Hi, I've just joined your group earlier today and I would like to introduce myself. My real first name is Kareen and I'm 33, almost 34. I'm from Canada, province of Québec and my first language is french (so sorry for mistakes in english, they say that we never stop learning languages and mistakes are a part of this learning ;)).

I've studied in History at University, and I always had a certain interest for the WWII since I've read about the suicide of Hess in 1987, but my real passion for this period started in 2002 when I wrote a drama book based on a real little-known fact that happened during WWII.
I've made a lot of research for this book, and more I've read more it's intererest me. Since, i've never stopped reading or searching about second world war.

My favorite subjects are holocaust and the eugenic side of the second Reich (eugenism that started in the XIXth century), the SS in concentration camps, the biography of Hitler (ones wrote by famous historian) and music (Swing, Big Band, etc. I owned a blog on that matter since few weeks).
I also play video PC games like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Pacific Heroes, Blazing Angels (by the way, I would like to play on line with real persons, but I'm a bit shy for join a game without invitations )

I like also all movies or series's about WWII, like "Band of Brothers", "Combat" (A real fine serie from 60's with Vic Morrow that I'm hardly recommending to you all if you don't have seen it before!!), etc.

This is it. If you have any questions or comments, I will be happy to receive it!
Good day to all, and my congratulations for your good web site!

    Kareen (Gescheitine)

    Kareen,

Welcome and I hope you learn from and teach much to us. Don't worry about language problems, we can work around anything you throw at us. If you can't figure out the correct English word, give it to us in French and Skipper can translate.

PS: I almost forgot : I would like to know if someone here knows german ? Because in the book I wrote, there's few quotes in german and I'm not sure that's it's all right (meaning: I'm pretty sure it's NOT all right !! LOL) Thanks!

Welcome, Kareen, to the great venue for discussing World War II. I'm from the Prairies, and have been hanging about for over a year now and have always felt welcome. We should all the provinces represented soon! I hope you enjoy yourself.
