Must say we´ve come a long way from the strong Pound??!

    ---------

While the decline in the value of sterling is posing problems for UK tourists bound for Europe, it is providing an unexpected boon for Northern Ireland's retailers.

As the pound keeps falling, the traffic-jams keep growing with euro-shoppers coming to Northern Ireland for a Christmas bargain.

With some shops offering a straight 'euro-for-pound' exchange rate, the queues are getting longer and longer.

So much so that some local people in border towns like Newry and Enniskillen are annoyed at having to fight their way through the "euro tourists" to get to their nearest shops.

I got complaints! But then I really shouldn't, as in the past it was always to our favor! When I went over in 1979, it was very cheap for me! Now, not so much! But good to hear that people are out and about shopping! Gotta spend that money to spur the economy right!

Ever sinc ewe had the Euro it has been strong. Of course it has encouraged inflation, but that's another matter. At this point the UK is cheap for me and the USA too, so I'm not complaining. Imports are cheap , exports expensive, in the UK it will be the other way now.

If the Euro was a little better right now, I'd fly over to the UK and then take a train or that boat shuttle that goes to Hoek Van Holland for cheap money and knock about for a few months! I can wait!

The pounds are going to have to keep falling before we switch to the Euro. We don't like change, people are still coming to terms with the decimal system since the switch over in 1971 :p

It's all a matter of generations. I still calculate in francs , my parents in law old francs, (pre 1960) but the kids have already forgotten the old currencies and probably think we are all 16th century sailors talking about guineas of florins, or whtever money they had then.

...yeah, I was going to say that as well. Never mind the fact that us Yanks still use the old system and probably will for a long, long time to come.

    Give up the pound!

    NEVER!

I will never give up the pound for that euro rubbish which is not fit to be toilet paper as you could catch a nasty rash off its cheap ink.

Don't worry England, as soon as we put Gordon Brown and Co up against the wall the sooner we will be back with a strong British Prime Minister who will take no guff from the EU.

Joe your young enough, you up for it?

I love the pound! I love the pound even more when Labour wins! I remember the 1977 election, the pound stooped so low that I never bought as many models soldiers as in thaty year! So hang on to the pound and keep trashing it :D
