I'll throw one out, even though it isn't my turn (forgive me if I butt in line)! What was known as the Large Slow Target?
The Brits, gained that name from the habit of consuming limes and their juices to ward off scurvy during their long sea voyages.
This Japanese warship earned a new prefix: Hotel, because of its luxuries. What is the ship? As for some easier ones (three are carriers): 1. Walking Stuka 2. Screaming Mimi 3. Lady Lex 4. Evil I 5. Gray Ghost 6. Balsa Bomber
The screeming mimi I think is a nebbelwerfer (or however you spell it), the Gray Ghost is an M8 Greyhound??? The Balsa Bomber I think is a Mossie...
The Japanese ship is the super battleship Yamato. I have no idea what the "Walking Stuka" might be. The "Screaming Mimi" could be the Nebelwerfer rocket system, although I have heard of "Moaning Minnie" applied to that as well. The "Lady Lex" is the USS Lexington. The "Evil I" has to be the USS Intrepid, although I admit I have never heard that nickname for her. I think the "Grey Ghost" is the Enterprise, but it could be the Yorktown just as easily. Of course the "Balsa Bomber" is the de Haviland "Mosquito".
The Grey Ghost is most definitely the Enterprise. It got that nickname because the Japanese reported it sunk so many times, but it kept reappearing. The Walking Stuka is also called the Ground Stuka. You are probably familiar with the Sdkfz. 251 Wuhrframen (sp?) rocket launcher half-track.
