Well, what would have happened if it had of found its way into Hitler's head, say 1941-42?

I suppose that really depends on the exact date. Before the invasion of the Soviet Union? Before the summer offensive 1942? Before Stalingrad was encircled?

Civil War. The most powerful man who would have won I would say was Himmler. The Wehrmacht would have had something to say about that but being tied up in the war, would not be able to do much about it. The war would have ended sooner because of the strife. Return of the civil uprisings of the 20s with the Wehrmacht winning and perhaps a military leader. So many prospects.

I have to say this is one of those perfect What-ifs: Change one thing and you change everything!
I have to agree with Andreas, the timing is the ultimate question. If Hitler was deposed before the Soviet counter-offensive before Moscow, there is a good chance that Germany could have ended the war peacefully and with significant short-term territorial gains. But those gains would have most likely been in vain since the losing nations would have been very-very pis$ed off and certainly would have striven to rebuild their military might in order to swarm the Germans at a later stage. It also would have been a bad omen for world peace, since this would have brought back a notion that aggressive warfare does go unpunished and many smaller nations would have suffered greatly from a larger neighbour trying to integrate them into their territory.
