BBC NEWS | Health | Guinness good for you - official

The old advertising slogan "Guinness is Good for You" may be true after all, according to researchers.
A pint of the black stuff a day may work as well as an aspirin to prevent heart clots that raise the risk of heart attacks.

Drinking lager does not yield the same benefits, experts from University of Wisconsin told a conference in the US.

The researchers told a meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando, Florida, that the most benefit they saw was from 24 fluid ounces of Guinness - just over a pint - taken at mealtimes.

I have drank Guinness in Hong Kong and Germany and both were better than the Guinness here in the states.

I have drank more Guinness than you have dribbled down your chin so get off my a**..........LOL

Actually I particularly like the Special Export Stout sold in Germany and the Low Countries, it's Guinness but beefier!

Guinness on tap is probably the best I believe. It has to be. That's the kind I prefer anyway. Only one pint they say. Must be some sort of miracle drug that requires applications in such small amounts. The over-the-counter thing is quite appropriate for us regular folks. No need to go look for a dealer, just stroll into the local watering hole. Four or five pints should be better, or maybe more. I'll conduct my own study this evening and report back with my findings when I am able....

It has been recommended taking half a aspirin a day to thin out the blood which will help in preventing heart clots. As for Guinness itself its a great drink full of iron.
