Some threads need to be designated as "DNR" or Do Not Resusitate.

Is that code for strolling down to the local pub to pour spirits and groceries down the pie hole? What time is it over there anyway?

I am not sure I understand the argument that FDR did everything in his power to provoke Japan into a war. First the Oil embargo was not placed on Japan by only the US. Hence the reason why Japan called it the ABCD Encirclment (American, British, Chinese, Dutch). Secondly, is this any difrent the the economic sanctions we currently place on countries such as Iran or N. Korea? I don't see anyone claiming we are lurring N Korea into attacking S. Korea, Japan, or the US because of sanctions as a result of their Nuclear Tests.

The issue with the Embargo is usually caused by people who don't know the difference between embargo and blockade. So "embargo" is an act of war if you're lazy.

Here is a link to the memo, and note that it is used by the discredited Stinnett in his book Day of Deceit. The book which this poster is baseing his premise upon.

    See:

    The Arthur McCollum Memorandum

I personally disbelive the book and Stinnett, the other poster doesn't. He seems to think it is gospel of some sort of conspiracy against FDR. That chestnut has been floating around since 1941-42, and yet to be proven by any document taken in context.

That makes two of us Chief. You know who is really to blame for Pearl Harbor? ......Not FDR, not Churchill, not Hitler, not Santa Clause (or any of his eight tiny reindeer........The Freaking Japanese!!!! no one else is to blame.
For crying outloud Japanese boats carried Japanes planes flown by Japanese pilots who dropped bombs made in Japan (albeit out of American scrap iron most likely) on US ships in a Harbor of a US territory; that's it there is nothing more to it, no grand conspiracy theory.
