To buy now, or then to produce? I'm not sure of your premise here.

Hard to say. It all depends where you want to buy them. I'd say Russian would be the cheapest , due to both large quantities and fewer demand. American and British are still affordable, French, if you know where to look. Norwegian and Danish would be harder to find (except helmets) , but there is also less demand. Pre-1939 Polish is almost impossible to find, because there has been lack of political interest to save those until recently. Free Polish stuff is quite easy to find.

Axis? Buy Italian , quite easy to find. Romanian is hard, Japanese is more a matter of money and German is not really rare but there is too much demand so prices go beyond reasonble.

You forgot to mention Belgium , which has some great affordable uniforms.

Don't panic I understand too. I agree with Skip generally, Russian would be the cheapest both because of enormous production and less demand, but also because of very weak Russian (and eastern generally) currency.

On a recent trip to the Czech Rep. my father-in-law was honestly offered a fully functioning AK47 for $US 12, which gives an idea I think.

The reason that you are not getting so many replies is that your question is very non specific and ambiguous. There are many variables that go into pricing a WW2 era uniform.

Variables include the branch of service, unit, rank, and whether or not the item is researchable to an individual. I am not even getting into the type of garment and the condition.

I have seen German uniforms sell for as little as 300 and as high as 45000 us dollars. I have seen French uniforms sell for between 50 dollars and up to 5000 dollars. This holds true to just about any nation.

I disagree about the pricing on WW2 era Soviet uniforms. Genuine period uniforms are VERY difficult to find because they were made of substandard materials and worn until unserviceable, even post war. These tend to draw a respectable premium among collectors these days. Check this site out... they are a little on the high side, but the prices are indicitive modern trends. The M43 style tunics were worn until the 1960s.
