Lovely can. Does this can have to the left of the nozzle a bracket for a fuel type insert lable? if so it was later used by the East Germans, also British made WW2 cans can be found used by the East Germans

I am not trying to flame here...but it is statements like this that allow people like Charles Snyder to continue selling for all of these years. Nobody is perfect...good people like Klaus can still make mistakes. If you do not have 100% conviction in what you are doing you will always be at the mercy of others...and in the end those 'others' usually only think of one thing...your money.

    Caveat emptor.....

Glad to see we are among Gentlemen.

Martin: I will post pics of the plates asap. One maker is Bavaria , the other three are Karstner Saxonia. What's most interesting is that one has a black dot on a former marking and the RAD marking instead of the date. This makes me think they recycled an order that was not finalized and baked a new Rad mark on the former one. Now what Ilike most is that I think Istill can distinguish a Luftwaffe eagle and FLUV under the black dot. It is impossible to remove it as it was baked in the oven like this.

Also I have more Stalag pics from French and German Pows .

One guy had 2 German cannisters , includoing one with markings on the handlebar (never seen before) but he wanted 60 euros for it. + One lad sold a rather rare book that was dedicated by Rommel's widow in the 1950s. It has also some signatures from 2 German vets. The title sounded something like "fighting without hate" and is the publishing of Rommel's correspondence with his wife . He wanted 115 euros for it, so I declined the offer.

Enough, I will start scaning and will be back later today.

No - but inside the filler you can still see some original red paint and the correct type of round vent-pipe. The can is only fair condition ( the bottom has rusted through ) but it was cheap and the German dealer didn't rip me off with postage (10 Euros) which isn't bad from Austria to London....It will 'do' until I find a nicer, early-war example on my travels.

Skipper, your query about the abbreviations on your Great War Victory Medal ; ERA 3 RN is Engine Room Artificer ( 3rd Class ) Royal Navy.....

Here are my plates. They are thick Bavaria or Saxonia Porcelaine and I wouldn't have noticed them without Mrs Skipper picking one up checking them and calling me because she saw the word "Reich"

I also found a few more goodies which I will detail later.

This is what I know from the plates. They were found in a Convent near a place called Seine-Port , on the Seine River, east of Paris. The couple who sold it to me said they also had more plates, but that had already sold those at a fair near Paris.

Here's the latest addition to my collection. It's a German M35 helmet which was reissued to the Norwegian forces after the war.

I bought it earlier today at a new militaria show at Trafford Park in Manchester. The original liner and strap have been replaced with norwegian versions but the shell is original and has been repainted. I'm in two minds at to whether I should repaint it in the correct wartime Wehrmacht or Luftwaffe RAL colour?

    Here's a few pics.

Manufacturer stamp for Eisenhuttenwerk AG of Thale Harz (64 is the shell size)

I'd leave it alone, but a friend of mine had one and it ended up having a ss decal under the paint!
+ How do you post such large pics?

Yes, I have often wondered if the decals are still present on these reissued lids?

I host my photos on Imageshack and then paste the links in to my posts.

There's a tutorial somewhere on the forum on how to do it.

Ok I received this pair last week and I reckon it'll have you guessing on what they are (US WW2 obviously) I haven't taken full shots of the new one but have included shots of my other example. Any guesses?

John: great lid, if yo uare going to paint it, you may as well try to find a former decal, you never know.

Let us see the pics of the Zeltbahn Martin.

Any theory about the black spot originally baked in one of my RAD plates? I really think they overprinted it in the Saxonia factory in 1940-41 (all the other ones have those dates. Note this single ones hasn't got any date at all and that the RAD stempel is not paralel?

This is total guesswork on my part but the black lozenge shape certainly looks as though it may be obscuring a Reich Eagle of some kind. I wonder if an order was cancelled, or quality-rejected ?

I covers up a second type Luftwaffe eagle, but it's impossible for me to let you see it, even wit gamma changes, negative etc... it doesn't show. Day light makes it pretty clear , but it doesn't get through on my camera. A real pity. Also the feeling makes it quite obvious . I didn't think about the quality rejected thing, but there is actually a tiny bump that could explain it was turned into second choice for the RAD units.

Here is a great picture which I picked up yesterday in a shoe box. It shows German pows in a local camp with two French guards (one in the tower) . The Germans are apparently going to perform a theatre play with a mock Hitler head.
Note the belt of the French guard, it's exactly the one I picked up the same day and shown a few pics earlier.
