    Greetings All.
My name is John, I'm from Ohio in the USA. Call me John, or Wolve..My screename comes from 2 different aspects in my life, the 1st "Wolve" is short for Wolverines, The Wolverines are my favorite College Football Team, from the U of Michigan. The 2nd part of my name is pretty much self explanatory, USMC. I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps, from 1986 until 1994, as an 0331 (M-60 Gunner), as well as part of MSG (Marine Security Group...Embassy Gaurds).
I am 41 years old, and have been interested in WW2 since a child, when i found these boxes and crates in my grandpas attic, they were FULL of pictures and documents and ribbons and medals, and even his flight jacket and aviators mask. See my Grampa was part of the greatest generation on the planet, he was a WW2 fighter pilot, he passed on xmas eve of 2008, I miss him so much, he was my hero and mentor, i am tearing as i write this thinking of the greatest man i have ever known. My other Grampa was a Dive Bomber in the navy, flying off an Aircraft Carrier and bombing Jap ships in the pacific. He died when i was 9. Both my Grandfathers are Pilots of WW2. Other members of my family have fought for this country in other wars and branches, but since this is a WW2 forum, ill limit it to just my Grampas.
My main interests in WW2 is the War in the air over the Pacific Theatre and Europe. However anything pertaining to WW2, any theatre or branch, are all very interesting to me.
My hobbies are playing softball, sports, and hunting phony war heroes and imposters of any war or citation. u
I hope here is to talk to and meet people with that have*Yo stories or can teach me more about the war*, especially pilots. Thank You.

Same/same, PI 1stBn Plt1062, 08Aug1977. Actually got to serve in both 1st and 2d MarDivs because they gave me a choice of duty stations to re-enlist the first time. The freakin hills at Pendleton made me re-think my decision several times but the Libbo was much better.:D

There are no "chicken legged" 1st Division Marines. I will take hills anyday over chiggers and sand fleas.

WOLVE USMC " spent 8 years in the Marine Corps, from 1986 until 1994, as an 0331 (M-60 Gunner), as well as part of MSG (Marine Security Group...Embassy Gaurds)". I am curious did you serve in OIF 1 as a Tow gunner.

What prompted you to ask him this? I would guess not because I'm unaware of reservist MSG's but if so what's the big deal?

What prompted me was the fact that Mortman, who Wolve usmc has called a COWARD has refuted his accusations and said that WOLVEMAN USMC is a liar thing that troubles me is the tone of this post "

Hello all, I'm new. And i was looking up some things about task force ranger in somalia, and this site popped up and i noticed the thread was started by a man proclaimiing to a part of task force ranger in somalia. i thought nothing of this until i saw the pics the man (coward) was using to claim as part of the task force...THIS COWARD IS FULL OF IT!!! this coward has been cought twice now using another mans pictures. this caoward has used these same pictures proclaiming he took them in the latest iraq war as well. we caught this coward passing these pics out to women and proclaiming he was now a major at ft bragg with the 82nd. we know its the same coward because we found out he lives in indianapolis indiana. and his post n here say hes from indy. Mortman was NEVER in iraq, let alone fought beside those brave men that he is dishonoring with his Bull!!!! this coward DID serve in the army, but not as a ranger...but as a phone tech at ft gordon in the late 80s. Boonierat...give it a rest you lying coward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the above quote is WOLVE USMC,s from here http://www.ww2f.com/military-history/25207-my-pics-my-time-somalia-task-force-ranger.html post 11.Mortman, says that he caught this guy out on another forum claiming he was in OIF 1 as a Tow gunner and destroyed 17 tanks Mike says he is a liar and did no such thing......... but served only as a reservist, so I thought on Mikes behalf I would respond my tone is much more polite I like to think! and as for the Mods telling me the Ranger Assocition are dealing with it Mike would really like to know whats taking them;) oh and I would just like to say 10 posts and nothing since add to that the 1 post at Talk, just to stir the pot a bit more:confused: I feel this shoud have been dealt with behind closed doors from day one and not openly posted UNTIL ALL FACTS were proved one way or the other.

I actually agree with you. The best course of action would have been to have taken care of it behind closed doors. I do not know the truth behind the Mortarman controversy, and personally I'd rather err on the side of caution, meaning I'd give Mortarman the benefit of the doubt unless I was sure he was lying.
That being said WolveUSMC seemed pretty convinced, and if I were that sure I was dealing with a poser, I would probably be as angry and indignant as he was.

The thing about your post that bothered me was the:
A large proportion of our servicemembers serving overseas are Guardsmen and Reservists and have been since day one. When they die they are just as dead as their active duty counterparts and when they're wounded, they bleed the same color and hurt just as badly.
There have been 131 Marine reservists killed in Iraq, that's over 2 and a half times the number of active duty U.S. Air Force personnel killed in that war. The National Guard has lost 476 and the Army Reserves another 136 in OIF. The Navy Reserves have lost 15 all but two to hostile fire. I could go on and give you OEF casualties but I hope I've made my point. During the Korean War the 1st Marine Division at Inchon, Seoul, and Chosin Reservoir was 60 percent reservists and that division, at that point in time was arguably the finest fighting division in the world. I have a friend that served with me in the Marine Corps that deployed to Iraq in 2005 with the National Guards 278th ACR. He was awarded a bronze star with "V" device, extended his tour to serve with a Special Forces Unit and has been recommended for a DSC (the recommendation is still pending). He has since gone into the Marine Reserves with 4th Recon Bn and has deployed three times to Afghanistan. So the old "he's just a reservist" doesn't fly with me.

USMC PRICE " So the old "he's just a reservist" doesn't fly with me. I chose my words wrong with that phrase and apoligise if you think I was making little of the reservists, my meaning was that Mike has said this guy was not a regular but a Reservist the way I put this across was done so wrong and the fault is mine, I am well aware that in the UK the comitment made by our Territorial army to Afghanistan/Iraq is the largest in thier history and yes I know they bleed and die the same as any one else.

Price and wtid.....quit it. I am of the opinion that neither of the members in question is worth a yellow card or a trip to the cooler. You both need to remember that the anonimity of the interwebs affords peprsons, who so choose, to reinvent themselves. When someone chooses to mis represent themselves the ownership is on them and even though we may feel taken advantage of and betrayed and we need to put that behind us.

No harm no foul. Thank you for clarifying. I really don't have a dog in this hunt and don't want to get crossways with you. From what I've seen of you on this forum you strike me as a good guy and I would hate for someone else's squabble to drag us in. So how about peace brother.:D
