I bought another few studio portraits at our local flee market today, so I thought I'd create this thread to familarize thos eof you who are interested in French officer uniforms. The original size is about A4 and they are meant to be framed in oval framings.

The First one is an Armée de L'air Sous officier (Adjudant or Sgt I think according to the rank)

Note the tie that was probably pulle dby the little daughter

The second one is a 46 Infantry Regiment Officer

Note the typical large pre-1939 pockets that were abolished in 1944

Great photos - I used to buy a lot of those when I lived in France. I never seem to see them when I get to visit a brocante these days.

Cheers Sommecourt, they are getter harder to find nowadays, I used to find them all the time, but the source has ran dry these last years and they were either thrown away by the next genrations are scattered in private collections. I will drive to three different departements tomorrow and IF I find more Iwill post them here

I found one today Sommecourt, not an officer but good enough to get the picture as it comes from a POW and has his name address Stalag + of course a great German censorship cancelation. The lady who sold it to me , said he was a carpenter. The good man looks more like a WWI vet than a WWII rookie and could well be in his 40s on the pic.

Didn't you know Nathan joined the Armée de l'Air? If he has a family on this side of the atlantic, no wonder :D
