Editions Heimdal have recently published Mathieu Longue's 'Kampfgruppe Knittel - Ardennes 1944' which is currently available via e-bay or - at a very good price - from Amazon.

I'd love a copy BUT - although advertised on both sites as 'Language - English' it seems that the book is actually published in French. I'm not 'knocking' the book - if you can read French, maybe it's brilliant. But otherwise, be warned - and don't expect new photos, they're the familiar ones we've all seen 100 times....

I'll just have to wait and see if Heimdal ever publish an English version.....:(

Just read my various posts in the AHF and Feldgrau forums. The author quite shamelesly copied my posts, often by litteraly translating my exact words to French...without credits.

Despite feeling rather like a Traitor to the Forums, I bought a copy of this at the Ciney Fair this weekend. A dealer was selling some Heimdal publications quite cheaply and I couldn't resist....

My schoolboy French will struggle, but as with most Heimdal books, the photographic research is quite impressive.

I only hope that Timo gets around eventually to publishing some of his research ; I will be a 'buyer' for sure !

My book will - at long last - go to print in two weeks from now. In English, close to 500 pages at B5 size format and including photos and maps.

    Consider this a "Bump."

I was planning on starting a new thread when the book was released, but until then I hope our esteemed, but modest friend doesn't mind me expanding on his post. Timo's (Ruimteaapje's) book is a very important work. He is too modest to say how many years he has worked on this or that he has interviewed some of the few survivors of this notorious outfit to reveal new insight and information on not only Knittel and his men, but the inner workings of LAH in general.

If you're a student of the the war in Europe this work should be in your library.

I've seen some parts of the book to verify info against US' 30th Division records, etc, and so I know how meticulously this book has been researched. This first edition is in English and of course, the writer is very fluent and writes very well indeed.

Thank you very much for the kind words Keith, and for the help you provided regarding the action Knittel's outfit saw against the 'Old Hickory'. II will post a few teasers soon :)

The chapter headings alone indicate how deeply interesting this work will be. It's truly something to look forward to !

The list of small errors which came to light after going through the test-print book (mainly issues with photos being too dark, etc.) have been ironed out. The book will be available in the webshop of the publisher on the 30th of June and will cost € 37.50. I will provide the url
