Saddam was years ago. Even if he could get his hands on some cake, he wouldn't have known what to do with it. ...This is scary shiz. How come no one has commented on this bit?
In part it is due to the idea that if you don't think about it, you don't have to worry about something we can not do anything about. And in part the reasoning that Iraq had WMD's lead us to a costly and divisive war and we don't want to go down thar road again unless there is no choice.
Maybe it is because people just like to "scare themselves" in the night by telling ghost stories? Saddam had the "yellowcake" for years, it was watched over by the UN inspectors post Gulf War I. It was just that, a source of radioactive material he couldn't get the engineering developed to exploit. It isn't easy to go from "yellowcake" (which today is brown) to an isotope usable for a nuclear device. Tried to find the video on you tube where someone tipped off the Soviets(?) where they could find some radio active material stolen from one of their plants. The video showed a steaming bag in a forest that melted the snow around it. They removed it in teams like @ Chernobyl. Fake video? I dunno. But if that kinda stuff were to be spread via blast or other means in a densely populated area, it would be a disaster. This kind of stuff ( dirty bomb, nuke ) we don't hear about every day. Combined with current events concerning Israel, the Suez canal, the price of oil, the price of food it seems to be a recipe for a perfect storm. This is not 2012 stuff. It's ear to the ground stuff. Not fear mongering. Oil is 103$ a barrel. Oil price surging on demand, Arab unrest: IEA Gold? 1356.00/ounce Live Gold Prices - Gold Price - Silver Prices - Price of Silver and Gold
Hey there Canadian, America buys most of its oil from you! You should be happy that oil prices are "surging"! We (America) are the largest consumers of oil after all, and Canada is our largest supplier. I think it is Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia in the "sell to us list". My list of positions might be somewhat shifted, but not by much. Canada has lead for years. It might be Canada, Mexico, Arabia, Venezuela, or some other combination. Canada always comes out on top though.
I wish we would have known this 4 or 5 years ago when the reports were made. Wasted all that time not worrying about it. If they were on the "Brink" then where are they now?
Canada is happy. Alberta not as much. We do all the risk and work. We have to make transfer payments to our retarded provincial cousins. The ones who don't budget and the ones who don't work. Some seem to think we owe them a living just because there are no more fish. Some seem to think we have to pay because of what happened some 200 years ago. Alberta has a very low population and we make huge payments to our less accountable, Liberal voting oafs. And what do we get in return?....Hey, now's the time for an uprising. Excuse me while I gather some rocks.
Due to my affinity for french fries and gravy, as well as my quarter that is French Canadian, I will try to redirect the thread to it's origin... People often get excited about articles like this. Having seen a lot of the stuff out there about what these clowns are really up to, I can tell you that if it's publicized it's that much less of a concern - or at least it should be. The leaking of that information was not the result of some 'investigative journalist' who spent weeks embedded with an Al Qaeda cell - it's likely the result of properly chosen information that was briefed at a press conference with the intent of notifying AQ that we know everything they are up to. Think about the morale drop that accompanies someone publicizing your deepest secrets. I, for one, look at this as a sign that the system is working. We have their number... and the clock is merely ticking. By the way, for what it's worth... plenty of Canucks getting their meat hooks dirty in Afghanistan...
Very proud of the work Canadians do. Probably don't get the support or props they deserve. I should say I got that bit off of Drudge report. Looked for that article today there and could not find. Sometimes I wonder about Drudge. It's a lazy man's news site. But It's candy too.
