Im trying to track down a photo that i had previously seen posted on this site, of what appears to be workers all doing the nazi salute, with the exception of one man, who refuses, with a look of defiance on his face, despite being surrounded by people who are saluting. I wouls love to find this photo again if anyone remembers where it is. Cheers Rob
Is this in Germany or an occupied country? Do you have a time frame? Do you remember anything about the original, such as type of publication (newspaper, magazine, still from film footage)?
It worked for me. Here is the image. I'll try re-posting the link. http://m24digital.com/en/2010/09/27/the-man-who-refused-to-perform-the-nazi-salute/
This is from the article: Landmesser was arrested some time later because he tried to marry Irma Eckler, a woman who had Jewish blood, as he violated the Law for the Protection of German Blood and Honor. As they could not marry, he was convicted because the extra-marital sexual relations between Jews and Germans were forbidden. Consequently he was sent to forced labor and his wife was transferred to Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she died in January 1942. Landmesser was released in 1941 and forced to join the I Battalion of parole “999″. Since the end of that year it was no longer hear from him, suggesting he died in one of the battles in which the battalion participated.
