Actually, I like that idea not selling guns to non residents. I knew a great couple in their 60s from Bavaria whom have been trying to get duel citizenship but cant thanks to some restrictions placed in the new laws passed after 911. The guy has a background as clean as mine but for some reason? thye are constantly f=denied their chance to become at least part time Americans. Adolf and Mara are two of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Suzie, you ever feel the need to want to fire some vintage weapons? I have three that need to be taken out so they can "clear their throats" since its been well over 10 years since my Walther "spoke". ;-))

    Yes.

There are very few seats that are "safe" here, it seems that in the US you have more stagnation, the same old coot can hold the same seat for decades. In Canada if the government doesn't keep the confidence of the people they will be booted out.

I'm not sure I understand this. You are saying as long as the US isn't at war with a nation, nationals of that country who are not US residents should be able to enter the US and buy weapons and ammo as long as those weapons and ammo are also available in their home country?

You Canadians want to be careful about buying guns at one of our gun shows too, here in Billings a pair of Canadians from Lethbridge were arrested and a number of guns were found in the trunk of their car. They face some nasty federal charges if found guilty.

I guess Canadians really didn't care about the whole contempt of Parliament thing...

Will be interesting to see what the future holds for Quebec though now that the BQ is pretty much destroyed.

No, buy them and take them back to Canada or have them shipped here.

I think those three really went about it the wrong way-meaning, I dont see anything wrong with the buying of guns for their personal usage, but if they were illegally trying to sell without a license? thats their own fault for being stupid about it.

Ive bought guns for the purpose of keeping and collecting them, but never bought any for the sole purpose of reselling for a profit. Ive traded many and sold a few through the years.

They did that the last time too. I got so sick and tired of all of it way long before the actual crap started to begin with. Also, I think that was done so that they could keep crowing about the whole schmeer merely just to spout off on it anyway. I dont know if this makes any sense?

Take them back to Canada? So, selling a weapon to a foreigner in the US that they can ten take back to their home nations? Will they get an escort to the border/airport? Who's to say what they will do with it once the purchase is made?

Ken, I promise I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass. :D I'm all for weapon ownership, I'm just not sure that selling weapons to non-resident foreigners and expecting them to abide by the laws might create a bad situation in some cases.

    Otto,

2 things here first of all are guns. I have never bought a gun in the US, lots here but there may be a special collector I would want to have, just as so many Americans own foreign guns. How many Lee Enfields, Mausers, SKS's, etc. are owned by Americans? Lots and lots is the answer. If you have a PRMC Winchester (if you don't know what that is let me know and I'll post some info. but it is part of our history). and you want to sell it why should I not be allowed to buy it? Perhaps it could be sent to a gun shop in Canada? Perhaps it could be mailed to my house, Canada Post deliverd guns to our doorsteps.

Now in the past for hundreds of years right up until 911 I could go down to the States and while my wife was shopping in the mall I could go over to the sporting goods shop and buy some ammo and a scope if I wanted. Supporting our American brothers businesses. I have never heard of one problem coming from that policy.

Americans are welcome to come up here and buy guns and ammo as long as they have a valid license, I don't thimk that you folks are about to use them to take over Canada, the army has better weapons.

I miss the old days when it seemed like we were family (cousins) when we went to the States, now ALL foreigners are looked upon with suspicion, including best friends.

Embarrassed to say I'm not 100% sure on how our system operates. I do know I vote whenever there is an election though. They sneak up really fast, and it's over. Like cold Canadian sex.
Some want separation in Quebec. The "Bloc Du Quebecois" were separatists. They failed miserably in this election. Most who used to vote for the Bloc now seem to have voted New Democratic party. NDP. They are pretty much socialist. They did fairly well. They wanted to spend too much on big government and put us in deeper debt. We have to bring the deficit down. The only party who would do that are the PC's , who won with a majority. A lot of Liberals did not vote. So , on the whole, Conservatives seem to vote more. Which says a lot about them....Joe six pack view.

You can thank our over-reacting jack-leg federal gonvernment. I'll have to disagree with your "ALL" assessment. To me, and I would imagine most Uh-mercans, Canadians are still viewed in the same light they always has-good folks that we are proud to have as neighbors.

I presented the info before, gleaned from the US DoJ website. Remove the numbers from an easily defined 3% segment of the US population and our murder rate would drop by half, to levels comparable to western Europe.

So for example, when a tourist from the US passes through Canada on the way to Alaska in a motor home and has a handgun in his possession for protection, does he had to give it up at the border? Does he get it back on the way home? And do the Canadian Customs people search RVs that closely?
