I just bought all 39 books from ebay. Will someone please tell me these are worth it? My WWII book collection just keeps growing (its addicting) and I am actually getting more than I have time to read. I'm hoping to get a nice bookcase for my birthday and thought these would look nice along with all the rest. Please offer opinions if you have read them. Thanks

Krystal, I don't think you can go wrong with the set! I have a set of "The Illustrated World War 2 Encyclopedia" by Orvig or Ortis - something like that- and the pictures alone are worth the shelve space. I have a suspicion the Time-Life set is even better.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing about the pictures. I sure hope it is a good buy. In my opinion I got a good deal. I'll let you know what I think of them when they arrive.

I think you'll find them interesting and present a pretty fair view of the war from all sides.

I liked those books, and the Marshal Cavendish set as well.

What's a reasonable going price for the complete set? There's one for sale locally.

Check the online sellers, like alibris.com, to see what they're asking. Don't forget to consider shipping costs in their prices.

Well at least something I have has increase in value! I bought my set of "Illustrated" for 2 bucks a piece at the nearby grocery store. Two or three new volumes were offered each week with a minimum $25.00 purchase of groceries. Of course that was way back in the old days of the 80's. 28 volumes with 9 follow up yearbooks.

I got them in the mail and they are fantastic! They have some minor scuffs and shelf wear, but what neat books. I can't wait to start reading them. I bought mine off ebay for $133.00 shipping included. From my searches, I didn't find any cheaper.

There's a set for sale locally for $75, so that seems a reasonable price. I need to decide if I want to give up the shelf space, I guess.

$75 sounds like a good price. I know the boxes were very heavy and they were sent in 2 seperate boxes. I think about 30 lbs, the one said.

    Thank you :)
If I would quit buying books, I could go back to researching the family tree using that website you told me about. One of these days I will have time.

I have been collecting those books for about two years now. They are indeed great for photo reference and just to thumb through when you want to kill some time.

Every book I have I bought for a buck at my main library's used book sale. I don't have the whole set yet, but they always have lots of copies about from people donating old books. If anyone's library has sales like that, check it out. It's a gold mine!

I read one reviewer that said the pictures are great but the text is pedestrian and not especially enlightening. Would you agree?
