Hey guys, Next Friday I am going to be facing off against a friend in a round of Flames of War, the scenario is I control two Sherman Tanks and he controls a single tiger I tank. He also is using Tiger Ace rules. Any ideas and advice on how to take a Tiger with a Sherman?

try distracting is tiger with one of the shermans, first find a large hump, (preferably one you can see over) get behind the hump and only expoese the turret over the top of the hump so you will be harder to hit, start engaging the tiger to gain its attention then with your other sherman try coming in on either the side or the back, that would be the most effective way to kill a tiger with just 2 whermans, hope this helps :)

perhaps it's too much to just button up, hail mary and call in an airstrike to ALL available P-47's?

you can do what jughead says, or if you are feeling upto it attack from the sides and the rear.

but since this is a board game which i havent played, i am not too familiar with the rules :(

    Regards,

If you can find terrain with restricted lines of sight that would help. Is he on the offence or defence? If the situations is such that he comes in view of your tanks at short range where at least one has a flank shot you should have a pretty good chance. I'm not familiar with the rules you state or the limitations on intel so the above might not work. The recent series of post on the battle of Arricourt should give you some good ideas.

Thanks guys for the replies :) God bless your kind souls
First off, alchemist: I have no air support :/

lwd: I am on the offense as his tiger can shot at me from the length of the small table we are using in the lunch room at school.
The Tiger Ace rules I mentioned are so he can roll more dice

Thanks again guys, keep it coming!

Can you use smoke? Are Sherman's allowed to fire on the move?

lwd: I believe you can use smoke, Not sure if they can fire on the move though, The battle has since been pushed back to next friday due to a field trip. Also both are armies have increased as well, I have a third sherman tank, a jeep, an M5 Halftrack, some various British and American infantry. While he gets a Stuka for air support and possibly a Panzer IV F or G

PS: What effect would smoke have on his forces anyway?

If you can put smoke between him and you you can close and he will find it either hard to fire or at least hard to fire accurately. There defintly was a smoke round for the Sherman 75mm gun and it was frequently used vs Tigers. At worst it would blind them at best it would either catch them on fire or get the crew to bail out. Back in my college days there was an individual that was in awe of German AT guns particularly when used in North Africa. Thought that they were almost impossible to break through. A friend of mine was not convinced and challenged him to prove his point using the old AH game of Tobruk (very miniture like rules but a board game, the rules can be used for mini's as well and are better than some of the current ones from what I've seen). I think he might have won anyway but I sugest M-3 mediums with smoke rounds. The AT guns were overrun with little or no damage to the attacking force.

In real life yes. In your particular game it depends on how or if it plays.

Yeah that true, I think it does have a significant impact on tanks in the game though
