Anyone else playing it? It's a detective action adventure game set in a "historically recreated" 1947 Los Angeles. I'm really liking it, the gameplay mechanics aren't without flaw but the story has really grabbed me.

There's a pretty big World War 2 connection in the game too, your main character was an officer in the Pacific Theater and also a sympathizer trying to come to terms with something he did (from what I've seen so far). It touches on quite a few issues present in America post war so if you're interested in that aspect of history you might like the game.

I haven't tried this game out but I've been interested in it. When the price starts coming down I plan on picking this up.

That sounds really cool, I've heard about it too, but due to lack of time haven't had a chance to try it

Follow up, I beat it a few weeks ago, it seems to go slightly down hill towards the end but overall I would still recommend it. Having beaten it I'd say it's a must buy for those interested at $40, at $60 it's really 50/50. From everything I've read its pretty historically accurate so those interested in WW2 will really enjoy it in my opinion.

I'd like to expand on it a bit more but I don't want to spoil the game either. :p

Apologies for the bump, I was going to make a thread about this but since there already is one...
For those of which that aren't interested in the game I'd recommend a buy. If you've played 'The Getaway' and enjoyed it (A London mafia game taking place in the 90s, and also created by the same people, Team Bondi), you should like this game. The voice acting is really good. I liked that Aaron Staton, a guy who has already made his way into TV acting, was also in the game. Near the end, the last three cases to be exact, Team Bondi really shows their good traits. Everything in those last three cases I could pick out the same strategies they used in the 'Getaway'. Awesome gunfights, another character playability, and I think a couple of other things that are pretty much trademarks. The main protagonist in the 'Getaway' even makes a 'cameo' appearance in one of the vice cases. Also, I've never played/viewed a game with as much elegant detail as this. Even after you beat the story cases, you can still screw around LA in free roam and check out famous landmarks like the Chinese Theater, LA Public Library, and a bunch more. Then there's 50 or so hidden film reels you can find placed randomly around the city. Plus the 30 landmarks to find, 20 police badges (DLC), around 99 vehicles (including bonus ones), and the street crimes to complete for each case desk. (usually around 13 or so, although the last desk, Arson, only has 5). I think if you drove non stop for an hour, you still wouldn't access the whole city. That's how large it is. This game has the largest map I have ever seen. So, even after the main story cases, there's still a decent amount of stuff to do. Doing all of what I mentioned will take a while, lol. I only have maybe little over half the achievements, 20 film reels, and 80 cars and I've had the game for little over a month or so. The thing is, probably 5 months ago I bought the complete edition for my PC. I should have known a game of that proportion wouldn't work on a HP Notebook :p So now I have just the regular version for my Ps3, that only cost $20 bucks at Target.
To people who are thinking this is just Grand Theft Auto set in the 40s, it's not. At all. Rockstar didn't even make this game, all they did was publish it. I hate that all the credit people are giving goes toward rockstar. Team Bondi deserve all the credit, and people don't even look at them twice. Don't expect to be driving on the sidewalk and pointlessly running over people (You can hit the occasional straggler, but no matter how hard you hit him he'll just get back up again), and being able to pull out your gun in public and start picking off peds. It's a mature game, and it shows it. I've seen YouTube videos of people doing commentaries for some homocide cases which show full frontal nudity, and surprisingly they didn't mutter any immature comments. This game strangely makes you realize the seriousness. If those naked bodies were in any other game, I can guarantee you people would be making nasty comments.

TL;DR: I think it's a fantastic game and worth a buy. Has a bunch of hours of gameplay even after the story to entertain, and it's just fun to try to tick your partner off. (Namely Roy. I don't like him at all.) There's lots of little hidden jumps you can find also. Really good storyline and voice acting. The story only really starts at the end of Vice besides the hints in cutscenes showing Cole at the Blue Room, but a late story is better than no story. I just want to know how I can interrogate Mickey Cohen with not a single question wrong, but interrogate some random crackhead and bomb it. This game really shows the terrible detective I would make.

Wow. That was a long post. But hopefully it gives an idea to people who want to buy the game of what it is.
