    re: "The wood"

    >How'd you get the wood?<

I belong to the "USS Enterprise CV-6 Association" which had acquired the souvenir wood from a Navy historical society and "certificates of authenticity". My dad (a crewmember 1941-1943) had a block of wood, and upon his death, I inherited it. When the Association discovered that their enormous stash of wood blocks (previously limited in sale to Enterprise crewmembers) was not moving, they opened up sales to family members of crewmembers. I was able to obtain a few blocks, and spent hundreds of dollars to have them milled thin enough for use as decking for the model.

    PS--thanks for all the comments.
