What you all think of the Millitary Channels show Nazi Collaborators. I'm all for exposing the atrocities of WW2, especially when other nations/groups that willingly particiated in the Holocaust are exposed to the public.

Why not? Things happened, as long as they don't expose their descendents.

It is "interesting" to see how so many people turned into an opportunist or a nazi once the Germans invaded the country. I agree that the descendents should be not exposed.

I've seen a few episodes and thought them well done. Especially the ones on Pierre Laval and Chaim Rumkowski.

While several were opportunistic or fascist, I'm suprised so many saw themselves as their nations 'savior', having no clue as to what they were really doing.
Worthwhile program, I think, with some new film footage.

I like the new show. I was particularly enthralled by the story of Mohammad Amin al-Husayni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. He remains a highly controversial figure in Arab society even today. Prior to seeing that episode, I was totally unaware that there existed two all-Muslim units of the Waffen SS in Bosnia. Al-Husayni was instumental in helping to recruit those units. Also interesting how he slipped right through the Allies fingers at the end of the war and went unprosecuted or punished for his wartime activities.

I liked it and learned quite a bit about some who I'd only known the names of, like al-Husayni. Of the ones I've seen, which I think is about half, I liked the one about Degrelle. Him I knew a lot about already, and from what they said which dovetailed with what I knew, I can tell these people did their research.

My thoughts as well. The shows I've seen have been very well done and actually brought to light some facts that haven't been too well known. Rare for a TV series.

Most of the ww2 shows on the History/Military channel are very redundant but these have not been! Really enjoy them.

Back in 1994, when I was posting the Green Books on the internet, I got an email from a person in France. They requested that I go through certain books and delete the word "collaborationist". I was scolded for using a word that, in their opinion, was "pejorative and out-dated". I replied that I was not interested in retro-fitting history and I was uploading books that were as faithful a copy of the original as I could manage.

Did they tell you what they thought the revisionist PC term for collaborator should be?

    Misguided patriot?

From what I could tell it was just a college kid who thought I should be more PC. The chances of that happening...

How about greedy opportunist? How about self-preservationist? How about "following the path of least resistance?" Nope, those wouldn't work either it makes the person personally responsible for their own actions/inactions.
