Hello all, I'm new... 1. Your Name: My member name is "Everal", it was my Great Grandfather's middle name. 2. Age: I'm 42, and have been interested in World War II since I was a little fella, thanks to toy soldiers, model airplanes, "Baa Baa Blacksheep" and "Rat Patrol" re-runs. 3. Origins: I'm originally from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, and currently reside in Gainesville, FL. 4. Specifics: I enjoy every aspect of WWII and the homefront. I'm specifically interested in the actions my family was involved in. 5. Hobbies: I enjoy geneaology, especially in regards to my family's military history. I'm also a big fan of WWII PC Gaming, all genres. 6. Other: I'm also interested in the U.S. Civil War, lot's of interesting family history there. 7. Miscellaneous: My Grandfather was a machine gunner with the U.S. 3rd Marine Division and saw action on Bouganville and Guam. My Grandmother had an older Brother who served with the 26th Infantry Division and was killed on Christmas Eve during the Battle of the Bulge. These two division are certainly a focus point for me. I enjoy researching specific individual's military history and would enjoy helpoing anyone out with that. I'd also love to meet and learn from others who also do that kind of research.
Welcome, Everal. Glad to have you here. I have a great uncle who was on Bougainville with the 37th Division. I look forward to hearing more about your grandfather's service with the 3d Marine Division. (I happen to have a book of the WWII history of the 3d Division. One of the treasures I have rescued from a local used book store. )
Better late than never Everal, right? Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here as much as the rest of us do.
