Last few summers must have been brutal.

Yeah, the keepers have had to set up sprinklers and keep the water topped up carefully. We don't like doing the spinklers because it's a human thing and the wolves shouldn't learn to associate that with anything good. But practically, we have to keep the guests from going into heat stroke.

They're closer to St. Loser than most people think.

I saw my first one at the Weldon Springs boat ramp in 1993, last one was turkey hunting in Chesterfield 2 years ago. He crossed Bonhomme creek and ran the leave north to the water plant. He crossed 600 acres in seconds !

We had a cougar hanging around our place in Illinois about 30 years ago. Everyone downplayed it since no one actually saw it but I went to the neighbors garden and looked at the tracks after the Game Warden had paid a visit. He confirmed the tracks from a cougar and we could see the remains of a small pig it had carried off. I just saw that they had another sighting not long ago (caught on a game-cam) near Peoria.

[IMG]Nothing to be alarmed about, but a cougar has been sighted in the woods in the Star Rim Drive area. Use caution and report any sightings to the East Peoria Police Department, 698-4700.

We've had a very mild winter although it was only 65, overcast and breezy today. I had to wear my yellow lenses while riding my motorcycle. The cypress trees are starting to green up earlier than usual.

Yep :) Plan on sitting in the recliner and depleting my beer supply this weekend. Would really like to see Freddie win! Between The Golf Channel, ESPN & CBS I might be able to forget about what's going on outside here.
The course looks fantastic. All green and everything.

We are getting yet another snow storm here in Nova Scotia tonight, oh what joy it is to live with the schizophrenic weather patterns of the exhaust pipe of North America. I am still awaiting the supposed April showers which are supposed to bring May flowers, chances of that remain nill when everything keeps dying in the random bone chilling weather we get :insane:

Heads up Totenkopf - another large system is making it's way across from the Pacific Northwest : calling for more * * * * toward the middle of next week .
The sad thing about all this is; This has been what they USE to call a 'normal' Winter.
Ah well last October was swell.

Fess up, you spent at least an hour daydreaming how you could talk your wife into letting you get one!

Aw c'mon, you are just trying to bring me tears!

It's never too easy to predict something normal here, NS is often right under jetstream so we have to deal with every dying hurricane that hits the US and all manner of crazy storms from the Labrador sea. NS is really worth a visit for people interested in weather patters, year by year we never get the same winter or summer, spring or fall.

Well, if any of you in the northern US or Canada have clear skies tonight, they are predicting a brilliant Aurora Borealis display that should be visible as far south as Chicago. Here in Kodiak, we rarely see the northern lights because we're actually south of the normal display area, and rarely have clear skies when we do get a big event. Tonight, the sky will be perfectly clear I'll be be sitting outside in the cold to watch God paint the night sky.

I think I remember what a "Clear Sky" looked like. It's been a while. Never saw the comet last month due to clouds and it looks like the forecast for the next few days will block out any Borealis viewing.

It was a beautiful day today, topping out at 79 late in the afternoon with little to no humidity and a slight breeze. Nevertheless I was able to ride my motorbike with short sleeves. Not bad. Other than riding the motorbike, eating lunch and reading the paper I didn't get much else accomplished today. And it was everything I could imagine it to be, ahhhhh.
