Hello everyone. My name is Brian and I live in Louisiana. Ever since I was a child I have been interested in the history of World War II. I was fortunate to have grown up surrounded by good men who were veterans of that war. My grandfather was a radioman in the Army Air Corps. I had four great-uncles who served - a B-17 pilot, a B-24 gunner, a Marine in the Pacific, and a dogface in Europe. There were also three men who were life long friends of the family who spent many hours telling me their tales - a gunner from the U.S.S. Mississippi, a fireman from the U.S.S. North Carolina, and a Sherman tank driver in Italy, France, and Germany. I hope that I will continue to learn new things about the war here on these forums, and I hope I am able to contribute back.
Welcome Brian. If you get the time, add the stories that your family friends told you in your youth. We have a section for it.
Hi Brian. Glad you could join us. Please tell us what you can about your family. Their background sounds interesting. There's plenty to learn, but we also look forward to any stories you wish to share.
Hey, Brian. Welcome to the Forum! As Slipdigit said, please make use of the "Those Who Served" section to tell us about and honor the veterans in your family. Make yourself at home. This is a great place.
It has been a long, long time since I last visited these forums. Life gets in the way sometimes and things are forgotten about. Anyway, I'm coming back and hope to contribute more.
I saw the Fonz avatar lurking here recently and wanted to officially welcome you (again) to the site! It's always great to see members pop in from time to time.
@TheFonz , Warm welcome dear friend. Like me, you are born in a whole military / veteran family. Have a nice time when reading this.
