Potassium and sodium would make quite large explosions. Our chemistry teacher in high school would sell us small amounts of Na+ and K+. We would hold on to it until we had enough to make a larger bomb, so as to have a larger blast.

It all stopped when someone flushed a large quantity down a toilet the lower building and blew the fixture off of the wall. The teacher was not fired because no one would say what the cause of the explosion was, but he knew and would not sell us anymore after that.

I had a 1/3 of a pound of it (my share of the pound we ordered) sitting aroung for years in our bathroom at home. Finally had my younger sister take it to the high school chem teacher. One of the others in with the order ended up throwing his in a creek. I heard that it made a very impressive noise. If you decide to mix red Phosphorus and Potassium chlorate mix very small quantities carefully until you figure out how to do it.

Look at the white cloud rising from the explosions in the videos. It screams black powder, or one of the modern substitutes like Triple Seven or Pyrodex. I doubt even a nanny state like Mass controls black powder very tightly. You can buy it in any sporting goods store in the country.

Contain a pound or two of that in a cast iron pressure cooker and you have the equivalent of a 19th century mortar shell.

Hugs all around. That will surely deter terrorism....If they hate us so much, why do they come?..And there are a lot of them....Let's not forget, we don't move there. Nobody here, of sound mind, moves there. They move here and bring all their dirty, stinking, God fearing baggage...We offer an open hand. They give us the fist. We are tolerant, they are not.

That's hardly accurate. Many, indeed the vast majority of those who have moved here have done so because they want the freedom and opertunity that they get here. Indeed I've read that AQ's SOP for any operative sent here is for them to have as little contact as possible with American Moslems as they will very likely get turned in by the same. We've also got our home grown terrorist, remember Oklahoma city? Then there's that idiot Babtist minister down in Florida just to mention a couple.

The nineteen year old didn't have a gun with him when he was captured, the neck wound wasn't self-inflicted. He might not have been able to see or avoid his brother who was down on the road when he floored the car-jacked vehicle and tried to make his escape. I don't think youth of his age really think things through every time they act. In fact I'd take book that acting before thinking is the norm for the 13-20 age group.

Both of these geniuses are products of the entitlement culture. They grew up on welfare and went into adulthood on welfare. As far as I can determine, neither of them ever worked a day in their lives. They lived off of welfare and when that ran out they lived off their mother. The elder, Tamerlan, married and then immediately went on welfare with his new wife and child. In 2013 his wife began working 80 hours a week which put them over the earning threshold and so he just lived off the earnings of his slave/wife.

They didn't embrace the American dream because they had no dream. They were just "entitled" and society "owed" them. No wonder they were angry and disappointed.

In support of your post "lwd" here is an interesting part of an article about the number of American Muslims extant, and the number of those same people involved in jihadist activity. BTW it was the Muslim community that turned in the recent Canadian railway bombers to the RCMP. Seems like the Canadian Muslim community is much like the American.

...And as RAND's Jenkins wrote in the 2010 edition of his report, "There are more than 3 million Muslims in the United States, and few more than 100 have joined jihad—about one out of every 30,000—suggesting an American Muslim population that remains hostile to jihadist ideology and its exhortations to violence." Using Bergen's figure of 203 jihadist terrorists, that means approximately 0.007 percent of Muslims in the United States have been involved in domestic terror plots since 9/11.

It's my opinion that one of the main reasons that Christian extremists aren't as much or more of a problem than they are is that most of them live in countries where they, their family, and their friends have so much to loose. People willing to risk the consequences of such acts are much easier to find in countries where significant portions of the population have little or nothing to loose and little prospect of ever gaining the same. Thus the best defence against native terrorists is to insure that they have a chance of succeeding economically. Won't work for all of them but it does for many and cuts into the support base of those that remain.

Need to digest LWD's bit. Admire him and what he has said over the years.

Glad they were caught in time. They were planning to detonate seven bombs in NY next according to the younger man. :(

It was not "planned", but more "spur of the moment." They fumbled the carjacking and paid the price. Had they thought NYC through, they probably would have had a better chance of success.

-Is this a method used by our governments? Would like to read any legislation/law/strategy that is in place regarding funding potential disgruntled [terrorist] immigrants with welfare payments in order that they do not strike against us....'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em' theory?...Why do I go to work every day- damn. I'm paying for Immigrants not to blow me up? GD it. Pisses. me.off.
-Seems like North Korea takes advantage of that stance too often.
-Wish we'd gone 'Splendid Isolation' when we had the chance....Too late now? Just read an article that says 33 million immigrants coming in next 10 years... http://beforeitsnews.com/immigration/2013/04/immigration-bill-to-bring-in-at-least-33-million-people-in-one-decade-2445958.html
-.. Is that a New World Order? Or just an order?....
-Why don't those folk fight their own Civil and World Wars, like we had to, in order to stay in their native lands and not be ruled by nutcases? And what happens to the folk who can't come here and have to stay there?...Well, we will have go back over there and kick the crap out of the dictator/religious nutcase who is oppressing the opposite half of the immigrants who came to live here... Why don't we do that now, and save us the 33 million refuges and the associated costs of supplying them welfare so they decide not to bomb us...O M G.

Installed a system for a University of Alberta professor in his Edmonton residence. The well paid gentleman [who taught our youth] had a whole room dedicated to the worship of an apparent Indian holy man... Fortuitously, the week previous, I had seen a 60 Minutes expose of a video taken in an auditorium with thousands of devotee's, where 'Indian Holy Man' was caught pulling flowers out of nowhere [under the object he was holding] ..And to think our highly paid professor, teacher of our youths, worshiped a fraud....How can we allow this to happen? Just an example of how we are being slowly frog cooked, and told to like it....
