dbf, your posts have been among the highlights of this thread for me. I have actually learned something useful from them. It is clear Roscoe is just a wind up merchant. If he had anything valid to say he would have said it by now. Please do not waste any more time on this fool. Your contributions and effort can be much better spent elsewhere than in this soon to be closed thread. Roscoe, can you link me to your schedule of lectures please? I'm always happy to see money going to a good cause like the legion.
Okay, Roscoe, you seem to have problems following firm instructions. I'm going to give you three days to think about it. See you on Boxing Day, and then your posts will have to be approved before they can be seen.
Credible objections to your theories have been raised a number of times on this thread. You have yet to address them even once. I suggest you take a few minutes to reveiw this thread and respond to them. Certainly at this point there is no weight on any of us to do anything more until you have put forth someting reasonable and rational.
So Carrington halted under orders from Bernie the Nazi....Arnhem failed as result....so the end result as it effects today was what...
I see that your only response was to do the equivalent of what Carrington did. Sit in your cossetted safety and not engage. BYE BYE!!!!!
Well, Obviously manipulated by Bernie the Nazi. He made sure it was Carrington there, and that no Nazis ever shot at Carrington, Bernie was a super-spy übermensch capable of manipulating people's minds through ESP. This accounts for the real conspiracy: To engineer the actual loss of Nazi Germany (not easy trying to delay all Nazi Supertech being developed, A-bombs, UFOs, time travel, and the Moon & Antarctic Bases), in order to create the EU, and corner the Cheese market.
.....And so the Troll was unable to convince anyone that his ideas had any historical validity and disappeared into the forest with his friends the Lizards. BYE BYE!!!!!! Roscoe, as with all loons it was fun for a while, but not that much.
I enjoyed it from the side-lines, gave me some great laughs. Thanks to all of you. Happy New year.!!!
Please don't leave. This thread was so entertaining -- where will I get my daily dose of conspiracial comedy from?
Translated: Roscoe has run out of steam, links and theories (which remain unexplained here) and is off to find a fresh audience. Carrington's cosseted safety: Getting shot at for months on end from Normandy onwards, while in a tin can loaded with shells and fuel. [hr] I'm currently transcribing another personal account so am thankful that Roscoe has decided not to distract me any further with irrelevant nonsense. A snippet, by a sniper: So you drove up the road and in the end you sort of reach Grave? We got to Grave - I remember getting to Grave well, cos we stopped. You know the bridge at Grave? I do yes... There’s a bunker or a ... ...a pill box on the left. ...a pill box on he left. We stopped opposite it and the first Yanks I saw were there. And they were very friendly, they’d been in North Africa with the - I think with the 1st Battalion [Irish Guards]. Yes the 82nd Airborne. And they said: ‘You’re Micks, we know you.’ I always wondered how they defended themselves with these weeny little rifles. I thought I’d like a gun that fires a bit further. And we weren’t there for long, got out of the truck and we were talking and a jeep appeared, I remember that, and there was a bloke driving it, a General. And he stopped and he said: Where’s your C.O.? I hadn’t a bloody clue where he was really. And he said: Where would he be? And I said you know: ‘Well, he’s upfront, we hope.’ You know. And he had a barathea battle dress, a gold chain here and it was obvious who it was - it was Browning. And he looked as if he was poncing down Bond Street. He was rather angry cos we didn’t know where anybody was. So he turned about and buzzed off in his jeep. And the Americans said: 'Who in the name of Gawd’s that? What the hell’s he doing? He’s lost his way from London or something!' But of course he’d got a whole Headquarters south of the bridge and I think the Coldstream or people were diverted to guard it. So they were told to guard it, yes? Of course, yes. Someone or other. Anyway we got across the Grave bridge, got across the Grave bridge safely and then we stopped in some funny little village, some village which was on the map. We were there for hours while they made up their minds. A. they had to clear the roundabout or the bridge areas, and our lot were sorting out how they were going to get across the pond. So you were waiting... We were waiting in fact outside a house. I remember the woman saying: “Do come in but take your boots off.” I thought: Sod that you know. You could suddenly get a call. The only other thing I must admit I was a bit, I suppose, immature. On the way up to Grave - I see it to this day - there’s a school, or there’s a playground with swings and we were stuck there for so long, I got pissed off, went over and got on the swing. I was whizzing up and down and then I could hear them say “Start Up!” I remember the Drill Sergeant saying: “Get over here you bloody fool !” and then whizzed off the swing, got in the thing and went off. But you know something like that....The only other thing about the Dutch were - anything came in the way of the counter-attack or shelling, they bloody well got in your slit trench. Really? At least they made it so awkward you put them in and you got out. No, we stuck outside Nijmegen... So this was sort of the afternoon, there was a battle going on in the park there... ...the park - there was a raging battle. We were sorting out the bridge, the 2nd battalion [Irish Guards] and no infantry, but the 2nd battalion who were using all their ammo, firing the Yanks across, they then had to bring these stupid little canvas boats up... One opinion why MG failed. http://www.kingscollections.org/servingsoldier/collection/operation-market-garden-arnhem old thread http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/2240-could-operation-market-garden-have-succeeded/?hl=carrington#entry15413
Thank goodness for that. Cracking moderation i'd say, enough slack to to provoke fantastic rebuttals before it got too heated. Its a bit of a shame he was so intent on picking an individual to venomously insult, otherwise as you say, comedy gold. I'd be perfectly willing to let the chap keep his beliefs if he would at least clarify what they are. Honourable mention to dbf for services to Bilderburg rational bloody thought and reasoned historical argument. EDIT: I see dbf further proved this while i was posting.
I'll try to help. Carrington stopped after driving unmolested up from Lommel to the Waal because he got a secret message from Buildabear. It is all so simple.
Scientists who can't spell dissonance? You really are the gift that keeps on giving, mate. I could explain why conspiracists make 'normal' people laugh so much (or wish to commit nastiness), but you're quite patently 'not ready for the information'. How goes it on ACG? They didn't seem that keen when last I looked either...
to be honest, im still confused how the princess Elizabeth got mixed up in this, yes i do know that technically she was the GG col-in-chief but as said earlier she had just turned 18, no senior military officer that i have ever met is gonna really listen to an 18yr old kid.(no offence intended towards HM).
All senior officers listen to lizards, mate. Especially lizards that look like teenage girls, but are in fact thousand-year-old overlords of the universe. Natch.
