Skipper,Here is a pic of the front. It is more like a booklet. It is for a 1960 movie. It was with the over 200 Der Adler,Die Kriegsmarine and Die Wehrmacht magazines I got with the books. I am sorting them now and will post them. Rich A. in Pa.

Nice one, Rich - these are now getting very sought-after indeed. Over at the War Relics Forum, it looks like guys will murder and pillage for absolutely anything associated with the MP44..............

Thanks. I will go post them. I will buy them anytime I can. I think they are special. From the collectable ammo sellers they want $4 each. I walked around and looked after I bought the box. But prices were high on almost all of the stuff there. Rich A. in Pa.

From the same attic as the 1911 I found recently! A Seaman Paper Company Liner. It's very hard to make a definite judgment. All the paintings and markings are very old, definitely not a recent fraudulent fake! I'm pretty confident about the "MP" markings and the white color. I'm not so sure about the red cross and paint on the front. They seem to have been applied more or less at the same time as the other markings, but the paint has been applied very sloppy. So the red paint might have been added shortly after the war by a boy that used the helmet as a toy. BUT after the war everybody was so poor, any tyke would have gotten the arse whipping of his life if he had spoiled his dad's precious color on a helmet liner...it's really hard to tell. Anyhow I will keep it as it is and won't change a thing.

A Firestone liner, with four crosses applied with white color. Most probably from a chaplain's helmet. It looks as if somebody has tried to scratch off the crosses. As with the other liner the white paint is very old and IMHO is WWII vintage. I'm quite confident that the white crosses are not some "artwork" added by a boy after the war. No tyke wants to play the Padre! Everybody wants to be the General!

Chaplain...... or a catholic painting a cross as a talisman. Many fantasies on liners or vehicles where not official but more or less tolerated. Remember the "Mort aux cons" painting on the Jeep of one of Leclerc's officers seen on the movie is Paris burning?

A front seam, fixed bail M1. It's hard to tell when it was repainted, most probably after the war though! There is the name "Metz" and a laundry number, but the later one is unreadable!

Good liner. Metz could be the place where this soldiers was based after 1944. Both American and French troops were there (even after the war) and had similar helmets.

Another fixed bail M1 shell, this one has definitely been repainted by a kiddo. I need to strip off the new paint to see what I will find underneath!
