Really? Maybe! But I suspect that some of FIFA's untold millions of dollars in bribes are probably wrapped up with drugs, terrorism, or other such criminal activity and that is how the US government got involved in investigating FIFA.

What you suspect is not a proof;besides the CIA and other spy organizations were also collaborating with the drugs gangs.

The Fifa can not exist without money,a lot of money, and to get a lot of money it is selling the WC to those who are offering the most money (there are also other conditions),it happened in 1994,1998,2002,2006,2010,2014,also for 2018,2022.There is no other way .

Those who are protesting (as Britain) are only bad losers: Britain spent 15 million £ of bribe money to get the WC,but did not get it,and now is whining .

In the Premier league Norwich is considered to have got 15 million pounds ( not euros I think ) for winning the place in the highest level for tv rights. And just tv rights. Just shows how much money there is in the businez.

They are saying FIFA Edmonton, a new rcord attendance of 53000... Small print- to watch a national team.
There is a reason Edmonton was chosen. Not a lot of big sporting events there in the summer, when can go out and enjoy the weather.
Attended one of the Rock Circus' there, think there was around 57000- mid 80's... also watched some events during the Commonwealth Games there, also with larger audiences. And that was in '78.

The game was ...well, China only put defenders on the field.
The game was terrible. Looked like a soccer match of toddlers. It went 0 0 until a penalty kick in injury time (whatever they call that), giving Canada the win.

So crossing a national border makes all the difference? Why should you be concerned if it's taking place in another region of your country, or another city or on another block? Where do you draw the line and why?

As should be obvious the corruption and it's affects are not limited to any one nation. Indeed with an organization like FIFA I doubt you could find a single country that isn't impacted by it.

Indeed but that's irrelevant isn't it? The fact that they were caught may well mean that there is lessened impact of corruption in Finland and/or in a sport that one finds of interest.

No. The scandal was because some people chose to try and increase their income by cheating. There will always be some that will cheat or try to but catching and punshing those who do so is one method of minimizing it.

It most certainly did involve Finland like it involved most if not all other countries. In any case catching and punishing those involved sets a very public presedent which is a good thing as any rational individual would understand. Which goes a long way to illustrating why you don't.

Or not. Ignoring someone breaking into your neighbors house isn't all that productive to a "better world" IMO either.

??? Is there apoint other than your lack of concern?

For some defintions of "special". Not sure how relevant this is or why it matters though.

More irrelevant ranting. Trying to hide the fact that you're position has been thoroughly undermined perhaps.

Actually acepting bribes is a crime, at least in most countries and that's what is being charged isn't it?
The fact that Putin will get away with it doesn't excuse others.

Is it? Care to substantiate that?

Which is a strawman or a strawman.

While I disagree with the post that this was a reply to your reply is also at best very questionable.

Which is irrelevant to his post. If an investigation into criminal activity exposes additional criminal activities they should also be investigated. Not that it is clear that's what happened here.

Wrong and wrong. The point of all this is that corruption takes profits from the organization and puts them in the hands of individuals and usually at an exchange of far less than 1:1. Why do you keep ignoring this fact? Is it because it pretty much demolishes your position. You assumption that there is "no other way" seems to be yet another opinion pulled out of the air (or less pleasant places) and is by it's nature almost guaranteed to be wrong as usual.

    Sources please.

The Guardian : FA reveals true cost of England's failed 2018 World Cup bid :

Total spending was £21 million rather than £15 million reported widely (and it brought in for Britain : 2 votes)

Australia did spend £28 million to have the 2022 World Cup,result : 1 vote .

And these countries have the guts to accuse other countries of corruption.

Those who did for 2018 and 2022 the same as SA for 2014 should remain silent .

From the above it's not at all clear that they did the "same as SA". Certainly it doesn't support your statment about Britain spending 15 million in bribes. Indeed you seem to be ignorant of the fact that there are legitmate ways to spend money on a bid proposal like this. Some of the legitmate ways are completely ethical as well. Then there's the question of who did the spending vs who is talking about corruption. Of course you wouldn't want mere facts to stand in the way of one of your rants would you.

HAHA : 21 billion legitimate money to have the rights on the organization .And ethical :HAHA:what have ethics to do here ?

But now, I understand : it is legitimate and ethical (always the mania to involve in the debate something that has no place in it) to bribe someone with caviar, champagn and women, but not with money .

The witch-hunt organized by the FBI can only be understood if one is remembering the worsening of the relations between the US and Russia. The corruption in the Fifa was public knowledge since more than a generation, which did not prevent the US to spend a lot of money (of course legitimate for some people) to get the rights for the 1994 WC.And now suddenly the FBI is waking up (probably after a call from the Oval Office).

All this artificial crocodile-tears and indignation are only hiding hypocrisy .

Where was the indignation after the OG in Atlanta scandal ?

You have a truly warped sense of humor. Producing straw men isn't really funny. Again the fact that they spent x amount be it 21 billion or 21 doesn't mean that it was either legal or illegal although it's unlikely 21 would be illegal. I'm pretty sure if you looked at the details most of the above would indeed be legal.

I was making the point that just because it was legal doesn't mean it was ethical. Indeed one of the reasons for the lack of conviction of some of those indicted in the Olympic cases mention was probably attributalbe to the fact that while some of their conduct was hardly ethical it was legal. That also resulted in some changes in both the rules and the laws involved.

Again you illustrate that you don't understand. Just how much you don't understand is truly amazing. Especially since it apparently includes the defintion of "bribe". That you continue to pontificate on a subject that you so clearly don't understand is simply amazing.

Another opinion that is deficient in both logic and fact. Indeed Russia wasn't even addressed in the indictements which hardly qualify as a witch hunt. The fact that Russia was quick to portray it as such suggest that they are the ones with ulterior motives and/or guilty conciouses.

There is a huge difference between "public knowledge" and sufficient evidence. Not that you undersand either.

Interesting that you are making accusations with essentially no evidence to back it up. How much did the US spend? How much was by the various states and other governmental bodies? I strongly suspect that was all legal (too many checks and balances for it not to be). As for corporate or individual spending I'd like to know how much of that there was as well. I suspect not all of it was legal but proving it would be another matter. It's also worth noteing that individuals here in the US were indicted before those at FIFA HQ. Which has some rather interesting implications that I'm sure you will ignore as they don't fit your world view.

More opinions not worth the bandwith that carried them.

It wouldn't be refered to as a scandal if there hadn't been indignation though woud it? Your inability to see it doesn't mean that it wasn't there.

Again though, just because one crook gets away with something doesn't mean they all should does it?

I deny the US the right to meddle in/investigate the business of the Fifa and to use the Fifa for its conflict with Russia,as I would deny Blatter and the Swiss justice to investigate the businness of the US soccer/base-ball league,if there was there a scandal

And I warn you : as usual, the decisions of the Obama administration will have desastrous results for the US : only a fool would take the decision to attack frontal a US ally and an oil producer (Qatar) in a region where the US have lost almost all political influence, mainly due to the decisions of ...the Obama administration .

Only a fool will attack an African country (SA) under the cloak of corruption : this attack is perceived in Africa as a racist neo-colonialist offensive from the West, and all African countries are siding with SA (a potential US ally and strategically very important) .

All this would not have happened when Nixon was president and Kissinger secretary of state .We see the results of a new Jimmy Carter in the White House .

HAHA : if most was legal : no problem ?
Thus,if 51 % was legal and 49 % illegal, there is no problem ? Nice .I must write to J.Warner:he could use it as defense.

And because the US justice was turning a blind eye on what happened in the US,this would give the same US justice the right to poke its nose in things that are not its business .

The duty of justice is not to poke its nose in things that are not its business but to do what is needed,IF IT'S NEEDED,and only if that is not harming the interests of the country : what the US justice is doing is harming the interests of the US/the West, something which is not unusual with Obama in the White House .

Irrelevant :Russia is perceiving this as an attack, not unjustly,as the usual "journalists" in Europe are now claiming that one should take away from Russia the 2018 WC.

And, as expected, you are continuing to use irrelevant terms as :conciouses.Who was saying that Putin had a concious? And if he had one,why should that matter ?

You are way off base. The core of the matter is that FIFA engaged in criminal activity and has been caught.
