I inherited some snapshots from my grandfather and I'm trying to get some information on where they were taken. I appreciate any help.

Thank you, the pictures were handed to my grandfather by a prisoner when his regiment arrived at Belsen. The rest of the photos are of a "visit" from Hitler, Himmler etc. Just trying to find out where it was. seems that as "case-mate" is a company that makes phone cases, its not quite as simple to search for them, but at least the parameters are a lot smaller!!

"Casemate" is a french word, also used in English, for bunker, coming from the Spanish "Casa mata" dark house or room.

Does bear more than a passing resemblance to Infantry casemate(bunker) K-S 16 "U drĂ¡hy", near Karliky.

You can also view photos of the bunker as it looked in 2003 on the same page.

Technically speaking, for those who care abut such things, there is a difference between a bunker and a casemate. A bunker is built mostly below ground level while a casemate is built mostly above the ground.
