The post's estimate of 3,000 planes lost is a bit high. I saw a figure of about 2,800 deaths on The Hump, so the number of aircraft lost would be less. He does mention the January 1945 storm. Dad said most of the planes from his base at Chabua did not return although some made it to other bases.
