This is a photo of a purported IS member holding, clearly a missile (or a rocket). I can't identify the missile/rocket so I was hoping someone would id it for me. Thank you, Hummel http://s96.photobucket.com/user/sak1776/media/Unknown%20missile%20or%20rocket_zpspgni0qav.jpg.html
I thought I had provided a link to photobucket. My apologies. Wow, it really DOES look like an AT-3, doesn't it? LOL How likely do you think it is that IS is using them? Would they have gotten them from some arsenal in Syria or Iraq maybe?
Of course. If you google around there are many photos of various Syrian Rebels toting old and new Russian hardware. Even ISIS photos with captured TOW missile containers taken from Western backed rebels.
Very Most likely. Or Libya. Or any African nation that has had a civil war since the 1970s. Or any arms dealer. The AT-3 is one of the most common anti tank missiles out there today, so the options are endless.
Yeah TOW (Tube launched Optically Tracked Wire guided) - Probably with all those Humvees captured these would have been on some...and as has been said the likelihood of them being used is high...successfully? Anybodies guess.
my co-worker was 0351 Dragons.....same concept....optically tracked wire guided....ok, upon further discussion with him, he says it's not that simple.....he says others would miss their target, even after training....you have to lead a moving target, obviously...etc I've seen a Dragon go..they are 'close' to the ground and 'skip' along....my mortar crew had a TOW missle fly very close by one time....we just saw the flame going by........the blast of it going by moved our camo nets......the shooter didn't know we were there...this was at 29 Palms training area
