"Prince, 57, died at $10million estate from 'flu' after being spotted on several visits to Walgreen's pharmacy, just a week after he was rushed to hospital but told fans 'don't waste your prayers." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3552300/Fatality-Prince-s-estate-Minnesota-days-musician-rushed-hospital.html
Really funny guys ! I needed a good laugh ......Gaines I remember in the Cold War high ranking Party members that had fallen from grace showed up in the news as having died from the flu or more popular pneumonia with some degree of regularity.
I recommend JLo and the former [thanks Kody and Takao -good one] AFKA Prince for ''some'' medal !! here's the citation bold/italics mine! great job FAFKA Prince, above and beyond the call of duty........that is some real entertainment innovation ! [ after that performance, people really still take him seriously and worship him ?? ] now you can see why I always say people will die and worship idiots like hitler, jim jones, pol pot, etc....you can see why hitler could be so popular...and how the media can make an Everest out of a mole hill !! ABC news has a headline box and you can scroll through the 3 biggest headlines.....usually it's 3 different subjects....yesterday all 3 were Prince!!??!! [[ now 2 days in a row !!??!! ] I liked his music, ...but this is like Jen Lopez....he had the rear of his pants cut out so you could actually see his a$$ on national TV !!! what did he do that was so special to get the biggest headlines I haven't seen in a long time ?? and he was a singer....maybe do that on an entertainment site...not ABC, etc...... it appears crap and showing your rear is the norm of greatness! [ not artistic dancing ] ABC news is now teeny bop news? yes he's older, and people my age listened to him, but his main 'greatness' was for 15-21 year olds, singing and showing off his rear,---- generally speaking he is not big headline newsworthy and not WW2F either.....Elvis maybe ...he was in the Army and didn't step down the moral ladder to the bottom, generally speaking I really don't know how Frank Sinatra was so popular without showing his rear....?? can any1 help me here? my first google every morning is ''celebrity rears'' I would give Prince a bronze oak leaf cluster for at least 'moving'/dancing his bare rear whereas JLo just bent over like a 'lady of the street' sex is one of the most 'importantly' responsible 'acts'......sure it's fun, but it also can bring a child into the world !.....you just don't go around having fun, oooops--we also are going to have a baby.....this is one of the biggest problems that cause crime, poor education, etc in certain cultures--undeniable .so you should never parody and mock sex in front of pubescent and easily brainwashed teens who have no idea at all about financial, child, etc responsibility !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! G-PATTON--will he be wearing his 'medal' in the picture ?

My daughter was assigned to be his attendant when she worked in a nightclub. It was an after show free appearance. She said he was a very unassuming and polite guy with no prima donna qualities. She, being a great fan, was thrilled.
I keep reading that and hearing that about him. It's kind of cool that he stayed in his hometown and out of the limelight. He'd run around on his own and people would run into him at a convenience store or whatever and he was always polite and down to earth. Brian Setzer (Stray Cats) also moved to Minneapolis and for the same reason, so he could live his life with a bit of privacy and normalcy. Minnesotans still have that Scandinavian reserve and aren't in the habit of mobbing celebrities.
Hahaha, Bronk- way to tie in Jenny (gluteus maximus) from the block. Yeah, Prince was important and did some great things in music. ..I bought Purple Rain, saw the movie. But he never really spoke to me via his music, neither did Michael Jackson's music- good, but not for me (honkey cracker). It was obvious the guy was on drugs for most of his life. Any interview or live tv - couldn't understand the guy. Very weird, he couldn't keep a coherent conversation going. Just like Mike towards the end of his life...his people probably didn't do enough to tell the emperor he had no clothes. RIP, man.
I am not known for my reserve - much to my Mother's disgust as her mantra was 'Stop making an exhibition of yourself'. My cousin (more like a big sister) emigrated to St Paul and when I visited, I could not believe how flat the landscape was - miles and miles of it. First time I ever danced a polka! In a store downtown, my sister had just remarked that nobody would buy the 5xl t-shirt on sale when we turned round and looked up and up at two huge, and fit looking ( not obese) young men. They breed big ones up there and they are very polite and hospitable. Called me Ma'am for godssake.
Hardly up there with the best, not sure he deserves the column inches, I for one will not be wasting my prayers.
Wow brian- you are harsh. That you couldn't extend a simple prayer speaks volumes...where is your love of fellow man
can't remember too well, but I think I did see that movie in Hawaii...maybe I was 'drinking too much'....yes RIP....
As promised, a photo of my "neighbor" (in all fairness I am misusing that term since he was actually several houses over from me, but those houses are empty most of the time). I'm trying to see if I have any photos taken from my house but this will have to suffice for now. This is taken from the opposite end of his house -- I'm on the far side in the photo. Its hard to tell in the overcast and stormy weather, but his driveway is painted purple. EDIT: Found one taken from my place.
George Patton - That's not Paisley Park, right? The home/compound where he died? Paisley Park looks more like a commercial building. You can't avoid the coverage of his death, which, he was an icon, is not unexpected. But I've avoided most of it. But of the little bit I've heard, I've found it interesting and pleasing to hear people say that he was a good neighbor, a good man. One girl had what was being touted as the last video of Prince, he was riding a bicycle through a parking lot, maybe it was the Walgreens parking lot, it was just odd to see Prince, by himself, riding a bike. And even stranger in light of the fact he died just a few days later. I can't say I was a huge fan, but his music is very much a part of the sound track of my life, so it touches something in me. And then when you hear the good things, it is more touching. I heard the "don't waste your prayers" comment was made on Saturday, April 16, after his plane made the emergency landing in Moline on the 15th because he was unwell. It's my understanding that Prince was a man of faith, and that comment was meant to assure his fans that he wasn't going to die yet, not as a rejection of faith. I guess I've caught more of the news coverage than I thought..... I have a friend, Army, he is 92, he was the top turret gunner on a B-17 in WWII. I saw him Friday and he asked me about Prince. I started laughing, it tickled me to hear Army mention him, and he said, "I didn't even know who he was until he died, now that's all they talk about."
No it is not. He purchased a large estate in the Caribbean about 5 years ago. From what I understood, he was going to try to claim that his music was produced from there so he wouldn't have to pay tax on the revenue (no income tax on this island...). He even went so far as to build a recording studio in the house but as far as I know he never recorded from there. This is a very quiet part of the island away from the tourist areas, so the fact that he owned a place there was not well advertised. The few people who lived closed to him all knew about it, of course, but everyone kept to themselves. You could always tell when he was there because all the lights would be on. When he wasn't there (most of the time) the place was pitch black. He had full-time security at the house though, regardless of whether or not he was in. I saw him a few times. The most interesting was when I was driving down the road about 1km away from my place. I saw a guy who looked just like him dressed in very "flashy" clothing (a bright red frilly shirt and gold jewelry IIRC) headed the other way on a pink Vespa. He was just by himself -- no entourage, no escort what-so-ever. Keep in mind that this is a very remote part of the island that rarely sees any tourist traffic, but he seemed like a "down to earth" guy for someone in show business. I've never heard any of his music so didn't feel inclined to stop and talk to him. He had a big speedboat and you'd see him head out on that from time to time too.
Anyway, pretty awful year for music in my opinion. Bowie,Glenn Frey,Maurice White,Prince,Jimmy Bain,Sir George Martin etc etc... R.I.P.
