So shouting "Muslim" isn't intended to scare the stupid? Seriously now, both the left and right love to scare the stupid, it's the easiest way to get votes and pretty much akin to shooting a sitting duck. Its a heck of a lot simpler than asking them to think about complex issues, dig into the facts, apply critical thinking, and derive their own conclusions about what would most benefit them and the country, but its a way more 'Murican way to do it.

    1. As our recent election has demonstrated our mainstream political entities consist of two competing political strains. For the Republican's it is the 'Conservative' and the 'Alt-Right' (used to be Tea Party). For the Democrat's it is Liberal and 'Progressive' wings. The Alt-Right and Progressive factions are the insurgent elements within each party. The Alt-Right got their candidate to the convention and eventually the White House, the Progressive's nearly won the nomination and might have won the election.

Hillary Clinton ran as the Democratic nominee and was fully supported by the leading elements of the Progressive faction in the 2016 election. Just because she was/is to the right of your beliefs does not mean she was/is not a Democrat. Many feel Donald Trump is by nature not a Republican, so much so they refused to formally (or informally) support him during the election. Yet he will be known forever more as a Republican.

    2. How exactly do we do this? Military intervention? Economic embargo's? Are we not exchanging one form of US imperialism/tyranny (in your view) for another? Are you prepared to have all American's radically change their way of life and how does this not hurt ordinary American's? Especially as many American's have not felt much of a recovery yet? Food prices rising faster than medical Insurance premiums is not going over well. We don't eat seasonally anymore, we expect OJ year round and tomatoes the same. We do not want to pay a couple hundred more for our appliances. Are the nations of the world supposed to run their economies just how we say so?

    3. There was a time in this country when Trade Unions were not only useful, but absolutely necessary for a just society. The rise of Industrialization outpaced our legal system's ability to insure a ordinary worker could have a safe work environment and a living wage. This is common with any new change in our society such as cheap narcotic's and the rise of the internet, we struggle with these now. In the last half of the 20th Century they became as much a problem as a solution. Massive corruption from organised crime permeated many of the unions helped lead to corruption in city governments. Worse for those within those unions was the over reach in wages and benefits. It was no longer simply a living wage, but one that made American products simply too expensive to be marketable worldwide, or even in the US. To be sure Industry made its fair share of mistakes that hastened the fall of American heavy industry, but the part Unions played can not be discounted.

It is possible that Unions have a part to play in emerging nations to keep their workforce from being exploited, but again is it our prerogative to dictate to these countries how to run their economies? Is it any different from what you regularly complain about, American over reach? Especially as we know from our own history that there is a downside to Unions as well.

I hate to point out that points 2 and 3 could have come out of any Communist Manifesto from the 1920's. And history has debunked Communism as a economic system. Even China, the last large practitioner is moving away from it to a free market capitalist economic system, however slowly.

    4. We live in this world and not some hypothetical utopia you seem to see. There are threats out there, Russian adventurism, Nihilistic Islamic Fundamentalism who would defecate on your principles, just before they lopped off your head, Third World pirates would hurt both the First World economy as much as that of the emerging world. Most Western nations would not have all the social niceties with out the subsidization that the American military provides. If they had to budget their own forces they would need in is absence, many of those forward thinking ideas would have to be discarded. Until all our potential enemies reveal their secrets, neither can we. We can no longer rely upon the great Oceans to protect us anymore and I for one would rater fight them on their soil than ours.

There may be 'other ways' to compete, but the classics tend to work best and more cheaply in the long run.

I did not say Hillary is not a Democrat...i said she is Not Of The Left. She is a Right-Wing, War and Wall Street, Status Quo, Elite Class/Military Class politician.
You have it all backwards . You see Everything as a product of AMERICAN INTERVENTION.
    Stop Doing THAT.
You assist people by assisting them. If your neighbors house catches fire, you give them as much of your garden hose as you can. You do not send your insurance agent over with a waiver for them to sign and a banker to put you on the deed.
Unions help other Unions all over the world with each others resources, past practice success, etc etc. There is no need to Dictate Doctrine to anybody.
Ask the rest of the globe.....AMERICA IS one of their BIGGEST THREATS.
    God Bless

I hate to be blunt, but bullsh!$. The "alt-right" is simply the American Nazi Party and every other white supremacist group in the United States tricked out in suits and ties. They are still Nazi's and white supremacists. They have nothing to do with the Republican Party of my father and grandfather and nothing to do with conservatism. They are racist scum of the worst sort and shouldn't be lumped together with the well-intentioned but naive "Tea Party".

Haha : The nazis from Breitbart . What will we read tomorrow ? The nazi Netanyahu ?

All this is the usual blahblah to hide the fact that the Democrats and their Liberal allies in the media and in the GOP have embraced enthusiastically anti-semitism and in the alternative universe where they are living are accusing their opponents of anti-semitism.

Nothing special when the vice-president is saying to the Jews : leave the US, because you are no longer save here . Biden also is dreaming of a Judenfrei America . But of course he will deny that he is anti -Semititic.

Moron...It is referred to as a photo ID for a reason.

You think just because it has a pretty photo of someone's smiling puss on it, that a photo ID cannot be faked.

About the poll tax : it was $ 1.5 , today some $ 11 . Thus the importance of the poll tax in the disenfranchisement of southern blacks is mostly a myth . In Texas it existed before Texas became a part of the US and it was initially not directed against non whites.
It existed also in Europe (in an other form ) .

After the poll tax was abolished, the number of registered electors increased by 25 % , but there is no proof that this was caused by the abolishment of the poll tax .

About the influence of the poll tax :

In 1904 55,9 % of the registered voters in Texas were voting

In 1952 (when the poll tax still existed) : 84,5 % of the registered voters in Texas were voting .

In 2012 (when the poll tax no longer existed) only 58,6 % did vote .

Thus the influence of the poll tax ... as usual a myth .

    Regretfully, your a myth...

Before the implementation of the poll tax in Texas, the percentage of the voting age population that voted was almost always above 50%. After the poll tax, the percentage of the voting age population that voted dropped to very low 30s.

Wrong argument : the poll tax was not required to vote, but to be registered ,thus what you are saying does not give an indication about the influence of the poll tax on the disenfranchisement of blacks in Texas . It only indicates that less people were voting . Less registrations does not mean less voters .
    AND

the effect of the repeal of the poll tax on the number of Blacks that were registered in Harris County was meaningless :

    1958 : 36,7 %

    1966 : 36,8 %

    Other points :

19 % of the potential electorate in Texas was black, but 15.6 % of those who paid the poll tax were black, which means that 80 % of blacks paid the poll tax .

The poll tax had a big influence on Latinos : they constituted 5,6 % of the potential electorate, but only 1.6 % of those who paid the poll tax .

"the end of the poll tax failed to revolutionize turnout in Harris County " .

Source :Impact of the poll tax on voter participation .

Did you slip off your meds or take to many? Here's a clue, photo IDs are a subset of IDs and by far the most common these days. If you can fake (or "phake") a photo ID you are faking an ID. So clearly not a strawman but another indication that you either don't know what you are talking about or are trolling us (inclusive or intended).
