Given the proven Israeli propensity to copy foreign passports of unknowing, innocent visitors from UK, Australia, Switzerland, and more, for use by their agents to assassinate people, it's actually understandable.

Israel is hardly an uncontroversal topic. Where were the sanctions against them for actually acquiring nukes? If you want to draw parallels?

 

You've just made me recall what happened to my partner when he visited Israel. He and his partner at that time were split up when they landed and we're grilled about having been in Israel the year before, which they hadn't, neither had set foot on Isreali soil before.

It transpired his partners parents had been to Israel the year before and his borrowed suitcase had been marked somehow when they entered Israel the previous year!
