Has anyone ever seen the Disney cartoon that talked about Germany and WWII? Funny to me but very controversial. I saw it on YouTube when the site was still new and then they started banning the "banned" cartoons. Grr!
Scrap Happy Daffy (Looney Toons) is a great example of this as well. Very similar to the Disney one but not as outright and shocking.
I have a few Private SNAFU dvds, those are great. I also just purchased a DVD of a similar, lesser known character named McGillicuddy. Off to watch! :)

I don't remember seeing any of these. I will definetly check out the video footage section. I am glad I came in here because I hadn't yet seen that up top. Now that you mention it I will be heading there now, thanks.
I am somewhat surprised that Disney did this only because they just seem like the type of company that would just stay away from this.

I just watched it and to be honest I would like to know why they were banned? I thought this one was fine. I had never seen any before so this was interesting to watch, thanks.

And me, no idea who is banning them or why. I took a look at YouTube and they are there. I could only find one here at War44, under "Video Clips 2" after following JIm's link. Bugs Bunny selling war bonds, featuring Al Jolson, who should be banned ! ;)
Scrap Happy Daffy is there, and so is this funnier one:

I would guess because society today is to sensitive. Everything gets banned if anyone "thinks" its not PC. I have noticed a lot of altering or banning all because it is not PC correct. I am not sure why society is taking this dive.

Woohoo! That's good to know you got em!
I agree that this PC thing is getting way out of hand. Our society is so babied that whenever I see these World War videos I think, we've never had anyone as brave or involved as those soldiers, no one is pushed to try hard, and we are just not patriotic anymore.
The final straw was when my guy told me they made this man redo his OWN WW2 based film because it "didn't have the Hispanic point of view." I am hispanic, and guess what I think? Who cares!
He also told me, "Well, in that case, let's have the Polynesian or Japanese or Native American points of view, they played bigger roles in the war."
You really can't win anymore. Today's society makes me embarrassed to live here. More people should be researching their history instead of trying to erase or censor it.

THat is why I enjoy my trips overseas, where many things that are censored here are everyday things there.

You know I just got flamed in my class for saying I was embarrassed to be an American right now. of course I was talking about Bush and this new war but I hear you on being embarrassed it seems that in those days our country as a whole was stronger and the human race was more reliant and stronger but I could be off I don't know. :red:

Speaking of censorship I cant believe they would try to censor this but the cartoons my kids want to see have me blown away with the adult humor and sexual innuendos. Even TV shows show way too much for kids eyes and they want to censor history? :ahg:

I think we do possibly have a problem with confusion over what political correctness is. This can once in a while lead to ridiculous expressions of PC. But I think or perhaps hope that it is merely a phase as we get settled with some relatively new realities of American lifestyle.

Were they just simply banned by Disney himself on an afterthought?

    Just a thought. :botman:

I don't see anything with these that warrants a ban :dada: Where does it actually say that they were banned, and does it say why?

I think what's happened is that people are so distraught by their own personal struggles that everyone has become either self-centered or very individualized and so no one wants to help their fellow American or show any support for anyone for fear they'd be outnumbered.

So when they ban these things or say it's wrong, it's either to justify their own personal views or to make themselves look like the good guy. And we say that we can't disallow it because then we look weak for being the "bad guy" that tries to suppress them as well as breaking the rule of Freedom of Speech.

Basically, I think the Constitution is being hypothetically ripped apart.

I oughta be an activist and try my best to get everyone back to normal but I think I'd rather just go to Europe or Canada or something and let everything either settle itself or eat itself up.
