Hi thanks for the welcome, I'm currently not long started a degree in history, concurrently with single honours on the study of war, so I hope this site and forums will give me some much needed resource material.

Not specifically, although I will have to go over ww2 in detail for both courses, neither are focused solely on ww2.

World war 2 had such a huge impact on the world, many great advancements in all manner of fields came about thanks to ww2, it it had a huge impact on the way battles and wars where to be fought in the future.

I'll have to look at battles and wars taken place over the centuries, though a key point already being hammered across is just that, centuries went by without too much change in the way wars and military operations, then came the second world war, more powerful bombs, semi automatic rifles, better planes, and since then there have been more advancements than perhaps the last 500 years or so.

Aye much more in the way of advancements, but i would like to know the statistics of friendly fire in the Iraq Wars compared to WWII. Thou this has to be a total taken over a period which are both equal .. :smirk:

And good luck in your studies Vet... :thumb:

I might have been more interested on aspects of war throughout history if sites such as this existed when I was earning my undergraduate degree.

It also had a lot to do with how countries pulled their resources, for instance in the states they retrofitted many of the factory machines to build for the military and not much more was being built.
