Has anyone ever seen this movie? I watched it quite awhile ago but thought it was interesting. It was about how the British dropped bombs on the German dams during WW2. If you get the chance to see it I would recommend it.
I got it in a box set back last September. For me it certainly ranks as one of the best War Films. Because the actual weapon used was still a closely guarded secret when the film was made (1954), they had to use a dummy bomb in the film. Now Peter Jackson (Of King Kong fame) is about to remake the film with modern FX etc. Will be interesting to see how it turns out ...
Thanks for that tidbit of information. I had not heard that they were going to do a remake of this movie. Do you know when it is to come out?
Aye it is a while since i seen this film, it was only the other day we were driving over the motorway and could see the actual Dam that was used in this movie. Hope Jacko's version is an improvement on the original one, which will take some doing.
Allegedly, the veil of secrecy over the Dam Busters and especially the design of the Bomb is no longer there so it should be more realistic. Peter Jackson isn't a Hollywood 'Let's make sure America won the war' Freak so it should be good:thumb:
