Nice find Dave, its sad for this mans family that the country ignore such a feat after all it is history?
Also it is unbelievable that both he and his wife should live beyond 100, this itself should be a record. :wtf:

Yes, very sad. 'Gotta admit I was shocked to learn Germany keeps no record of its war veterans...after all there is surely no shame in merely serving your country...

I find it hard to believe that it took almost 4 weeks for His death to be reported. Oh dear. If only these 'Genuine Heroes' were treat with the same honour the Americans treat their veterans.....Sad day. A very sad day.

Shame to hear, but it's a nice age to die on! In a couple of years the same will happen with the last World War II veterans.

You know it isn't surprising, sad but not surprising at all. I think that most of our vets get forgotten about as well as their family. Which is a shame. I don't understand why the government isn't as loyal as our war heros are. It tears me apart to know to that it's like that and I hope that one day it changes.

Sad. More history has been lost! May the old man rest now in peace.

History is what it is, history! To me it looks as thou Germany of today is embarrassed of its past?
