    Hi
hoping some member can tell me what this truck was?

    Back around 1960 I had for a little while, a WW2 vehicle
that was powered by a large Walkesha petrol engine.
would say about the 4 ton type of vehicle.
It was 4 wheel drive with single wheels.
on the dash was a handle much like hand brake lever?
When you pulled it out all 4 wheels were locked up in drive.
    Therefor diff locked.
One could not steer when this lock was in?
Have the Idea it was made by Dodge?
    or some company like FWD?

any info, pictures etc would be much apreciated.
by the way it was in Australia.
    regards dooly1934

    re the pictures

    Hi Stalin
Thinking back the diffs look right for the vehicle in question
it would have been a WW2 lend lease truck with a rag top.
The diff lock mechinism has me still intrigued.
would say the army green picture is about the one.
    cheers dooly

    Truck Identification?

Hi, Just found this post and was trying to find info on a WW2 truck?
I got a load of photos from Burma 1945 belonging to what looks like an RAF pilot?
I can read the registration of the truck if anyone knows how/where to I.D. them.

    Thanks Gaz WW2 Truck.jpg

Gaz, going just on the picture you have uploaded here it looks very much like a light utility vehicle, which the British Army had many of .... But you say that the picture belonged to an RAF pilot??? Which led me to this vehicle ...

The standard Bedford MWD 15cwt truck. These MWs were used by all three services, and were purchased in bulk by the Ministry of Supply, who then allocated them to the Army, Navy or Royal Air Force.

Also this type of vehicle has a resemblance ... The Hillman Light Utility Truck ...
