What's the last movie you watched?

At Swords Point w/ Cornel Wilde, Maureen O'Hara, Dan O'Herlihy and Alan Hale Jr--as the Sons of the original three Musketeers and the Daughter of the 4ft Musketeer.

This was a pretty darn good movie and can rival some of Errol Flynn and Louis Hayward's best period movies. If you like these kinds of movies? I highly suggest buying and watching it--you will NOT--be disappointed.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

 

Just watched: The Spanish Main w/ Maureen O'Hara, Binnie Barnes, Walter Slezak, Paul Henried, Mike Mazurki and Barton MacLane.

Though not as good as an Errol Flynn Pirate movie--its pretty good and the cast was a great cast. Maureen O'Hara and all do an outstanding job.. This movie is not a "standard" Pirates vs movie but--it was well made, well acted and well directed. It never got slow nor boring. This is another I would highly recommend buying for your movies collection.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

 

Recently watched:

Sci Fi Channels production called: The Dead. I dont know who was in it? but it takes place in Africa. I didnt catch the full movie either so dont know what caused people to be turned into the "Walking Daed" and I was highly disappointed with its ending. Otherwise, I thought for a Sci Fi Channel made movie--it was pretty good except for what I call "gaps" in the storyline. Because of not enough "info"--some things just do not coincide.

On TCM: they premiered a movie I had been thinking about getting on DvD, so I watched it to see if it was worthy? well--IMO--it was not. Anyway, the movie is called: Moonfleet w/ Stewart Granger, John Hoyt, George Sanders, Jack Elam and John Alderson (SP?) If one thinks this movie is anything like any they have seen Errol Flynn, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, Robert Newton, Cornel Wilde et el in--well--it wasnt. The movie itself was slow and rarely sped up. Has nothing to do with Pirates on the high seas-as the title suggested to me--and "Moonfleet" was actually an Pub/Inn--where several Pirates went to go meet. I would buy this movie if it was offered for $1 Dollar.

Just watched last night: Pathfinders: In the Company of Strangers. For a movie with no names acting in it that I recognized--I thought it was well made. Its an OK movie at best and worthy of being in any War Movie collection because of the story--but is not worth the price I paid to buy it.

I had to cleanse myself of all the recent disappointments in moviedom that I endured--w a great classic: The Desert Rats w/ Richard Burton, Torin Thatcher, James Mason and the man who might have made Moonfleet much better: Robert newton.

 

Still "Cleansing my movies palate" by watching a Gary Cooper classic: Springfield Rifle w/ Cooper, Phil Carey, Fess Parker, Alan Hale Jr, Brian David and Lon Chaney Jr. An excellent Civil War Western with zero faults.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

 

Last night thanks to TCM--a war classic: The Dirty Dozen w/ Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Clint Walker, Charles Bronson, George Kennedy, Robert Weber, Robert Ryan, Ralph Meeker, Richard Jaeckel, Jim Brown, John Cassevttes, Trini Lopez, Telly Savalas, and Donald Sutherland. Man what a one hell of a great classic.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

 

Enjoyed a British War Classic this morning: The Colditz Story w/ Sir John Mills, Eric Portman, Lionel Jeffries, Anton Differing and Theodor Bikel. This is my top most favorite of a non-American related movie and it had a top notch and unbeatable cast.

 

The Flying Misfits w/ Robert Conrad as Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, Dana Elcar as Colonel Lard, Simon Oakland as General Moore, James Whitmore Jr as Captain Jim Gutterman, John Larroquette, Jeff Mackay and so many others. This TV movie was the actual pilot episode for the TV series called: Baa Baa Black Sheep/The Black Sheep Squadron. As a kid--I loved that show as much as COMBAT and The Gallant Men TV Series.:thumb::thumb:

 

Run Silent Run Deep

Twelve O'Clock High is a great movie. Run Silent Run Deep is my old tome favorite. :smirk:

As far as in the movies, of course, it was Dunkirk, on the TV it was Bridge at Remagen from 1969. Watched it on Comcast on Demand, free movies.

 

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance on TCM.

 

Hell or High Water, Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine. A damn good little movie that proves you do not need 100 million dollars of CGI to tell a great story.

 

Conspiracy 2001 and Dunkirk. The first one opened up a litlle more again but you just have to watch the whole film ( only 96 mins) without breaks.

 

Update, now it was “The Post” and “Hostiles.” I really like a good western movie and “Hostiles” was pretty good although it moved rather slowly. The “Post” I thought, was good also and because I lived through this time in the Vietnam War it was very meaningful to me.

 

Tonight I watched Twelve O’Clock High on Comcast on Demand free movies. Made in 1949. I may have seen it a very long time ago, at least twenty years ago. Gregory Peck did a wonderful job. All the actors were good. The air combat film from actual footage was magnificent. One of the best all around movies about daylight bombing raids with the B17’s. A good bit of talking involved but still an excellent movie. In the opening scenes with the old deserted air strip from World War II, it made me wonder if any of those old deserted air strips still exist in Britain or are they all developed and if something else has taken their place through the years.

 

I just watched Merril's Marauder's less than 3 days ago, all of the talk about the CBI theater and that lately made me intrigued, and it has been easily 3 or 4 years since I'd seen it, cheesy at times, but a classic and good war movie.

 

"The Gun Fighter" with Gregory Peck. I was pleasantly surprised at this 1950s film which I hadn't seen before.

 

Last night I watched "Master and Commander". I consider it one of Crowe's better movies. "Always choose the lesser of two weevils!" "Here's to our wives and mistresses, may they never meet!" "This ship is England!"
