It is becoming an annual traditon, so this year there are once again 4 visitor days in the Central depot of the Royal Army museum, located in the military ground of the Fortress of Kapellen near Antwerp.

This depot holds 300-400 vehicles in various states, going from fully restored and operational to in need of drastic restauration.

The days will normally be organised on the third sunday of may, september, october and a sunday in June. Exact dates are to be announced.
Registration will also be required, as the number of visitors is limited.

Visitors will get a guide tour along the collection and inside the fortress and finally a demonstration of functional vehicles. Depending on availablity thes can be for instance: Chieftain, T-72, ISU-152, Leopard I, Gepard, Bren Carrier, Firefly,....

A picture of a past line-up can be found here: http://www.fun-online.sk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=453&start=820

I will put the final info here as soon as I have it.

    The dates are known:

    20 may, 17 june, 12 august and 9 september.

Registration is mandatory and can be done with the educational services of the Royal amry museum : http://www.legermuseum.be, in the main menu click "education" item on the top.

Do not wait to long to register because these days are popular and visitor numbers are limited.

first thing, that link doesn't work, i think that you wanted to display this link

So, do we have to call for a reservation to Christine Van Everbroeck? And what are the prices?

Okay, people, start picking a date, less you all want to miss this event.

I'm already out for May, start of the exams. :(

Yep just call the Educational services (no one specific) and tell them you want to register for one of the vistor days in the Central Depot of Kapellen. I don not know what the current price is, but last year it was €5 a person.

17 June would be good for me!

Let's see if we can't get a few more Brits along this time...

On one hand I really want to meet the lot of you for real.
This is mostly because I joined this forum for it's intellectual debates (which is also the reason I'm still around), and the occasional pleasantly odd humor.
On the other hand, if I went, I'd be surrounded by tank buffs, in a military museum and there are few topics which have the potential me as much as history.
As soon as guns, ammunition, explosion or killings are involved though, the interest skyrockets.
    Thus the dilemma.
The solution; I'm now asking all those who will be coming what you think of me tagging along.
Depending your responses I'll be joining in all my annoying beta-ness, or stay home and cry because my forum friends don't love me :p
So it's in essence a mini-poll; should I come or not?
(Note; the number "please come, you are the best" posts will be multiplied by 10, and the amount of "don't come anywhere near me" posts will be divided by 50 ;) )

    I face a dilemma now:

On the one hand, I want to say 'yes, please be there', because I would like to meet you (if I am able to go)

On the other hand, I am tempted to try and make you cry! :D

I wouldn't mind him coming along as long as you don't judge me by what kind of friends I have. ;)

Seriously though, I've previously advised him not to come along simply because he neither knows nor cares about the history/weaponry stuff that we go on about all day at trips like these. It's mostly for Stix's own sake, so if he still wants to come, who am I to object?

Well, it's a democracy, so he has to make up his own mind on that one. If he come, it would be great.
17 june, hmm, just as may i would have exams. Huge unknown factor is this one. Normaly, the week that follows i have sort of a free week, no exams planned there. But things can still be shifted. So i'll see if i'm free.
I much better prefer september. :-?

For those that are in the neighbourhood...

For the 20th may there are still some places free.

Register at the Army museum website.
