It was the armoured equivalent of a sportscar too, few if any faster.

If I recall, the M-18 Hellcat was the fleetest of the fleet.

Ahhh, but what about cross-country speed?

The BT series had excellent suspension,
not so sure about the hellcat, though it sure was fast on a smooth road

Personally I like the Stug III... and the Pz II... and the Tiger
In fact it's probably easier to list what tanks I don't think look good...

Covenanter - total failure as a tank, but it looks sleek and mean (apart from the wussy 2 pr gun of course)

    breakfast

Are you sure you don't mean 'Champignons'? You could go for the 'Pilze' Prize!!! Puns in German now!!! (not mushroom for a fun-guy)
To return to the wine tank, a story that was circulating when I was in Italy was about a large railway tanker at Udine station full of chianti. Every one dipped in and when empty was supposed to have a dead German soldier at the bottom!!

    Re: breakfast

Reminds me of the book 'How I won the war' By Patrick Ryan.
It is from 1963 and might be a bit hard to get, but try your local public library.
A must read for all miltrary WW II arm-chair researcher/nerd/enthusiast/war monger etc.

    Quote from the internet :

Set in the Second World War, the novel follows the haphazard career of Lieutenant Ernest Goodbody. A hilarious satire of war memoirs, the novel gained little acclaim until the more sardonic film adaptation in 1967 starring Michael Crawford and John Lennon.
