Another old photo I found. This was taken at the Muckleburgh Collection, and I believe it was presented as a Sherman. I have read elsewhere though, that it is in fact a Grizzly ( basically a Canadian built M4A1 Sherman ). The paintjob presented here was as I understand fictional and a bit overdone as well. Any comments?

I checked the website of the Muckleburgh Collection and they mention a Sherman Grizzly...

It does seem that it has gotten a new paintjob!

    Maybe someone has corrected them?

It seems they have just changed the sand for green though, or is it just the light? The markings are still the same, and it was them I understood were more or less dubious.

It has the tracks which is more or less the only recognizable feature, from an exteriour view at least, which tells it apart from the American M4A1.

The drive sprocket appears to be a bit different as well.

    Yes
The Grizzly mainly used the CDP track of different pitch, meaning a new sprocket
CDP stands for Canadian Dry Pin

I don't recall the American M4A1 having a hull gunner's viewing turret, either. I could be wrong.

Skua (welcome back!), the markings do seem off, since as far as I know the yellow circle with "30" in it would put this vehicle in XXX Corps, and I don't recall any Canadian units serving in that outfit.

Ah - I think the Yellow circle is the vehicle weight, as a guide to which bridges it can and cannot cross.

OK, now I don't know what to think - does anyone know anything for sure about this?

The Grizzly at Duxford - note the sprocket and viewing turret. Apologies for the guy standing in the way.

Oh, and the half yellow, half red shield with the black 'hourglass' shape is the badge of the 21st/2nd Army Tank Brigade

Oh yes, I remember being puzzled by that Grizzly when Ricky and I visited Duxford... It's a pretty obscure model, I must say.

Also, I definitely need to work on reading vehicle markings.
