Ever wonder why the Dutch no longer rely on windmills?

i'll join. i got kinda fed up discussing RE because of so much bad math and science spewed by SOME proponents. for instance, they say the use of solar energy has been growing exponentially in the past few years. well, how much is absolute output in one country so far? can it power 2 million households for a year? can they slice off 10% from fossil fuel or nuclear sources?

Because they have electricity now? No need for windmills to pump the water out?

Cheers and I have tried to read the attached diagram but should possibly have gone to specsavers! Tried to enlarge but with no success.

    Wind farm producing 17,000mw?

Meds are wearing off for this insignificant deplorable on the nets...What if- windmills exuded co2, and attracted mosquitos, flies etc who are attracted to such...BOOM, giant fly swatter. The dead bodies could be composted...any buyers

Seems that way, but it's not in English. I just remember seeing a docu on the efforts the Dutch are making.

Is that peak production or base load?

Nevermind, looked at the graphic again, and it appears to be a planned maximum output.

Installed MW output, so far, is a lot lower than indicated in the graphic.

Qattara Depression we all know, persumably.
For starters, after flowing becomes a giant lake, the evaporated water would bring moisture to the local climate, making it less harsh given its much less cloud cover. Salinity is mined for mineral salts until Fishery and marine agriculture is developed. Osmotic electrical power is generated as Mediterranean water goes lower than sea level. Current global warming raises sea level. The projection brings down the sea level and fixated carbon dioxide into animal and plants at the lake.

Disadvantages include many: saline water will salinate underground freshwater and adversely after nearby oases. Construction increases the change of earthquake in Egypt. The energy generated is not gigantic for a gigantic scale engineering project. Voyage on the lake such as from a sea level harbor at the coast of the lake onto the Mediterranean would be very far ahead of time after the project completion.

    ------
A far more hypothetically imagination was the Sahara Sea: flooding the Sahara with Atlantic seawater. The water bodies would very ideally bring carbons in organism in the lakes -- various water bodies at Sahara -- thus solving global carbon dioxide content in one gigantic stroke. A fantasy indeed.
