Hello, I was looking for information on what happened to a soldier after he was injured overseas. When they are sent home, do they go to regular hospitals? Or do they go to certain military hospitals? I am overwhelmed with all the info I am finding and am looking for a starting off point. I found a list of hospitals from field hospitals to general hospitals, but I did not see any in the US listed. That cant be a full and complete list. Thanks for any help, Julie
Hi Julie. It seems that you have done some research. Your question is a good one. Try here for some information http://olive-drab.com/od_medical_treatment_ww2_echelon5.php You might also check out Hyperwar, specifically for the Navy https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/USN-Medical/I/USN-Medical-1.html Once again, Takao beat me with information. I think he types faster than I do.
Copy&Paste saves time. Although I hate to see how much space my internet history is taking up. I had to search through it for the website, as it has been sometime since I was there.
Hi y'all! My grandpa was a POW and did an oral history with my mom. Now I'm going through it and searching down all the little bits and pieces. When he left Fukuoka #17 he went to Okinawa, Manila, Letterman General and then on to Santa Fe. I'm trying to see if I can find any record of Earl H Bruns General in Santa Fe. Any ideas where I might find something. I've found that it closed in 1946, so I'm not super hopeful records would exist. He went on a hospital train to Milwaukee next, so I'm trying to just track down the different things if I can. Thanks ahead for any help!
