Adverts will no longer be displayed for WW2F Patrons.

Patron support is appreciated and genuinely helpful, and you already do more than your share for the site, so removing them makes sense.

Revenue is necessary to keep the site going, so some level of adverts will be necessary. We do try to keep our adverts tame and non-intrusive, and thankfully I've not had any complaints about our ads being overbearing, but if you do find them cumbersome, feel free to become a Patron and your heavy advertising burden will be relieved. :D

It was something I had planned to do long ago but never looked into it technically. @von Poop dug into this yesterday at WW2Talk and it turned out to be very easy to do. A bit red-faced that I didn't do it immediately, but very happy I've turned them off for this group.

Otto, please do what you think is in the best long-term interest of the forum as far as I am concerned. Ads are fine by me if they help generate revenue for WW2.org .

Keep meaning to donate Otto, but real life keeps getting in the way.

Wow! Thanks Otto. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the ads and didn't notice they were missing until I read this thread. Another perks of being a patron.

I have a simple solution, just buy everyone you know Patron status on WW2F.com. What wife wouldn't love to boast of her "Patron" badge on her user profile? Think of the cheers of glee that children would unleash upon being given their very own Patron account. The family dog would play fetch with their Patron account for hours! The options are endless.
