USAAF Santa Rosa 1945

    Never mind, I see. A service number of 466553 (1945) and an A3 designation. With a number like that and an A3, that means he spent enough commissioned time at sea to be a qualified deck officer, which means he probably did at least one tour at sea before going to flight school. My bet is that he was not designated a naval aviator until after until the war was over.

    In the first thread, Marnie said : they know the first and middle name, I know the needle in the haystack.
    His name needs further investigation,but I want to give it a try.

    And then she said in post # 9
    And the focus of the search is apparently USAAF. I simply wanted to make sure she knew there was also an active naval air station in the vicinity.

    Your right,sorry big men. No Richard Franklin on the USAAF Personal record list ; USAAF Personnel Records | USAAFDATA
    I found only an Ward F Richards on an B-29 IN 1945.MACR 12968
