Hi. I'm trying to find out info on some of my father in laws ribbons he was awarded in WWII for his funeral. Did medals accompany all ribbons?
Welcome to the forums! If you can post photos we'll be able to tell you more information. Most ribbons go with a medal, but there are some exceptions (including the Presidential Unit Citation).
Top three appear to be Philippine awards, but since he was a US serviceman they should appear last in precedence. The 1st row 1st is still unknown, 2d is the Philippine Independence Medal, 3d is Philippine Liberation Medal, but it is mounted backwards, it should be red, blue, white, red. Second row: 1st is a Presidential Unit Citation or Distinguished Unit Citation, either American or Filipino, 2d is Navy Reserve, 3d is WWII Victory Third Row: Asiatic-Pacific Theater with four Bronze Campaign Stars, American Campaign, and Combat Action, but the last again is mounted backwards and should also be first in precedence. All the precedence order is mixed up, check online and you will find correct mounting instructions.
