Hi there, I saw a link on another set of forums and thought I'd come have a nosey! 32 year old, long term military enthusiast from Peterborough, UK. Current obssessions include trying to decipher my family involvement in WW2 and just after, with a grandad who was a grenadier guard in Palestine just after the war, and a step grandad in GHQ Liaison Regiment (Phantom) all the way from the BEF, through Africa and Italy. Also a big fan of all things Airborne, mainly due to my living history participation a lifetime ago. Thanks Mark (Mongo)
Welcome to the forums, Mark! There's also our sister site WW2Talk which has more of a British/Commonwealth flavour. Dive right in both sites!
Welcome aboard MongoUK. Enjoy yourself here. What's the story with your username? We have a thread just for that thing, stories behind the usernames. Catch you later dude!
Welcome. I wish you could have met a friend of mine. He showed me a picture of his chums once upon a time. I realized that I knew the building in the background. "Is that the King David Hotel?" "It is indeed." "How long before it blew up?" "About five minutes."
Blazing Saddles... back in my living history days being 6'4" and broad, I was the pick-the-heavy-stuff guy, Mongo was branded fairly quickly... now play American Football as a nose tackle, so big dumb defensive lineman fits the name as well, so it stuck haha
