Been playing a lot of ARMA 3 lately. Joined the 21st AD and have run several ops with them. On course for some Pathfinder training (and hopeful acceptance). Been playing the role of Grenadier lately and often am 2IC of a Fireteam.

Figured out how to get Harpoon to run on DosBox and have been playing it. Also, an old DOS game called Command HQ, also via DosBox.

And have played a couple of scenerios of Squad Leader and the full campaign of Fortress Europa, both on Vassal.

..way back in the 80s, I had a B-17 board game that kept us entertained while we were on ship...now I guess they have labtop/phone games....but I wonder how security works on that

We played "Jutland" (Avalon Hill) in an empty rec room of a WWI barracks after the days fun and games were done. This would be in 1969. (NTC Aberdeen, MD, the then home of WAVE boot camp.)

...sounds almost like ''movie'' or something I always wanted to do ...reminds of the the scene in the movie From Here to Eternity or was it The Young Lions with pool table/ping pong/books/chess/etc--I don't think there was a TV and definitely no PCs/IPhones

Don't remember either movie enough to call that.

I've always been amused that a lot of the German brass were off to war games on D-Day.
