Hello. Looking for help with a painting

I have had a painting in the family for about 50 years. Was wondering if anyone has ever seen any art printed on a canvas like this or would have any input.

Can't help with the paintings unfortunately.

 

There was a painter by the name of Karl (or Carl) Probst who died in 1924. If he was the artist, the image in the 3rd photo would have been applied long after his death. I think you would get more information by contacting an art museum where they will have the expertise to research it.

Lovely painting. I'm sure it has quite a history. I haven't seen anything quite like it but I'm all but certain it was a war prize for a German soldier. And was returned to tour family after the war. Am I correct?

 

Ive just bought a 2 bed apartment in Vilamoura and Im looking for local trades people to carry out a number of tasks for me and also, so I can have a go to "directory" for help in the future.

The style does look Dutch...

 

If it has the Third Reich's eagle on the back I would say it was "officially" acquired and cataloged. A war prize for the allied soldier that snagged it. I believe Carl Probst and Karl Probst as Carl signed his paintings C Probst and the year whereas this one is totally different. Interesting.

Il a simplement peint un sac de jute sur une toile pour transporter la nourriture allemande pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale (il y a deux bandes verticales typiques de chaque côté de l'aigle). Aucun doute de récupération après la guerre. S'il l'a peint en 1946, il devait avoir 63 ans (un passe-temps). L'aigle a été repeint par rapport à l'original car il est de bonne qualité. J'espère que ceci est une piste pour vos recherches.
