working hard. while installing- noticed a picture on the wall of firehall #4, that showed my great grandfather.
we came from wiggan england in 1902.
to see an ancestor's unexpected picture confront me- was powerful.
i have seen the picture before, and it struck me right away. to see it in a main hall...where i was working....

Cool story that your grandfather found you. I've always been interested in the stories about the first to immigrate to get to where the clan is now. They all have remarkable tales. .Wonder why he left England. The first to reach the New World was on my maternal grandfather's side. He moved from France to New France in 1663 when he was 21 years old. A military/government man of some sort. My own maternal grandfather immigrated the the U.S. out of New France (Ontario Canada today) in 1899 when he was 5.and had a job in a textile mill when he was 7. American labor laws allowed women and children to work in the mills and factories. Canada didn't.

was talking with one of the receptionists, who said there is a firefighter there with the same last name.
there were 3 brothers who immigrated to here in 1902.
one went to mine the coal ( my closest ancestor). he was the mayor of "little wiggan" as it was known back then. its called westminster now...but he and his wife helped care for spanish flu sufferers when it hit here...i bought a house in little wiggan before i knew this info.
another brother went into ranching and was quite successful.
the other brother went into farming.
i often have people asking about my last name.

...good for you....I've never seen any pictures of my great grandfather.....just one or 2 of my paternal grandfather in a WW1 uniform--but he was discharged before he even left for the war

oh geeze...the amount of synchronicity ive been experiencing is like deja vew all over again.

sitting on toilet, listening to cbc calgary radio. made last post.
    hear on the radio:
    cbc reporter:
"This used to be a firehall?"
    property manager:
"Yes, it was firehall number four."
the time would have been about 6:45 mountain time.
i wasnt paying attention to what they were talking about...as i made my ww2f post - heard the radio bit.
    that was crazy. super synchronous.
    damn.

That is an odd feeling when your being is in an odd intersection of a point of space, time and the cosmos. Once I woke at 4am to the radio alarm for a plane trip to the west coast. The show that was on was one of those late night alien and conspiracy talk shows. They were talking about a mountain near the place l was heading to 3000 miles away. They said the mountain would erupt to fulfill some prophecy. Now, 10 years later, when I look out my back window I see that mountain 1 mile away. Cracks me up and makes me smile. If I had set the alarm for 4:30 I wouldn't have heard the show.
